PRO: you can dig for diamonds there and keep what you find! One guy just found a pretty large one a few weeks ago. It made the Little Rock news.

That's a great pro, all we have in Arizona is gold.

I grew up in Nashville, AR, 15 miles from Murfreesboro. If you like small town values, small town ways, and not much stuff to occupy your time, then Murfreesboro is right for you. However, keep in mind, you will have to drive at least an hour or more to find a "good" restaurant, movies, malls, etc. The schools there are pretty good. It is a very very small town, therefore class size to teacher ratio...15 or 20 maybe kids to 1 teacher. One major lake, Diamond Capital of the USA, some festivals held at town square.

Thanks for the info Nitabear. It sounds like our kind of place, we live in the mountains (altitude approx. 5000 ft.) in Arizona, a good hour drive to entertainment and shopping. We are looking forward to green surroundings, river and lakes. A small pond in Arizona is called a lake. We have lived in the high desert with cactus and scrub oak long enough, ready for a change.

We have not moved yet, the real estate market is very slow here. Sorry we missed the diamond festival.

M'boro
lived here all my life. if u don't demand big city lights and excitement, then it is a great quiet place to live. real estate prices are lower than average. school is good. and believe it or not, there are some great restaurants right here in town and in neighboring towns with the yummiest food in the country. county is dry, so if you drink, you have to drive 45 minutes to nearest legal beer store. wishing u the best!

Sounds like our kind of place, just looking for peace and quiet and maybe a shot of good whiskey every six months. Thanks for the info.

If you don't mind racism, sexism, girls pregnant at sixteen, few people that care about higher education, rampant drug use, zero access to anything 'green' (i.e. recycling, places to shop other than WalMart, people that care about the environment) and a society that rejects anything new, even if its better, Murfreesboro is the place for you! At first, I loved the nature, the slower pace of life, the friends that I made. But eventually it became clear that those things are not enough to make a meaningful life. It's scary how quickly that place will suck the reality right out of you. It's a sad, sad place and I wouldn't recommend anyone moving there, especially if they have children.
