Default At&t dsl

I'm considering getting AT&T's DSL service.
I read on their website they have a DSL service now that doesn't require you to have a home phone.
We currently have Earthlink since for the longest we were within a few hundred feet of being eligible for AT&T's internet service.
If anyone has this service, I'd like to know how you feel about how fast it is (download time, if you can watch videos without a lot of pausing, surfing speed, etc) and how reliable it is.
The only time our internet with Earthlink goes out is when the power goes out.

I appreciate the help.

I'm on AT&T DSL. No major complaints with it. It streams video fine most all of the time. I have been having some issues with my email inbox bouncing incoming email from some particular people lately though and I'm not sure what's up with that.

I use AT&T DSL when I am in AR and experience minimal issues with it. I probably would not complain at all except that I use another service when I am out-of-state, which is considerably quicker for vpn work.

If you learn that a home phone is not required for AT&T, I would like to learn about it. We would like to get rid of the home phone, but AT&T continuously tells us that we must keep it for the DSL. But, perhaps something new?

Hopefully the link works.

AT&T - Bundle DSL Direct with Wireless (broken link)

If not, just go to att.com, and go to the internet. It says something on the right about getting DSL Direct and Wireless- "DSL without local phone service & wireless together." We have our cell phones through AT&T so all we really "need" is to get DSL through them.

IN CA we have AT&T and the "dry loop" DSL, meaning that we have no home phone. We do have cell phones with them though and have it all bundled. It works fine for my wife and she and the kids use it to chat with me while I am in Tehran via the net. We have never had any problems to speak of, so we do like it a lot and it was nice to not have to have a home phone of any kind.
