Speaking of Dogpatch.....
Someone mentioned Dogpatch in another thread, and rather than derail that one, thought I'd start a new one.
What's going on with Dogpatch? We went by there in June and it looked as if it was being worked on.

I was told by a real estate buddy that there was a rumor that Silver Dollar City was looking at it to develop. Nothing more. Just a rumor. He said that the work they were doing was putting new roofs on many of the buildings. They're just tin roofs anyway, so it must not cost much. Probably just trying to keep it from deteriorating.

I had actually did some research on the web last year about this very subject. What I had found was that someone was trying to clean it up and remodel it to make it a place for corporate getaways. Who knows what is really going on these days, though.

Dogpatch was pretty fun for me, way back in the 70s. last time i drove by, it looked like it was a flea market.

The first movie I went to alone downtown in the old movie theater was Lil Abner. I just wonder if it can be rented in the origninal version. I remember the line oh so well about being 17 and going to be past my prime at 18

Dogpatch USA had better skiing than Banff, Alberta back in the day.

I have fond memories of the place too. I LOVED the barrell ride!! I'd ride that thing all day long. Hated the mousetrap, though. I was always terrified that tram was going to break away going down the mountainside and we'd all be killed but it never did. Unfortunately, I think it would be best the place got leveled.
I think the corporate getaway thing was just for Marble Falls Resort at the top of the mountain but I could be wrong.

Here's a link from "Underground Ozarks" with pictures of what's left.
Click on the "gallery" section.
There's some other cool stuff there too.
