part of our FFA "Initiation" was to eat mountain oysters. My friend has eaten about 12 or 13 before the ag teacher told him what it was-lol

Do they eat pig ones too????????? Crap! I never heard of that...only beef. I think I have lost my lunch appetite about now. With all the talk of jams and good things to eat, I sure would like to get back to my place there in Arkansas soon. Moving there is gonna be a monumental task for us, but it will sure be nice when we are settled in. Hey, why don't you send all those gossipers out to my place and get rid of that skunk family under my house before I get there? Maybe they can gossip those little critters out from under there !

Heh....
If you got skunks living in yer crawl space, you've got a problem
Hope you make good pies, cause you're gonna need some goodwill to buy the help on that one.
If you block the entrance, they'll chew through to get back in.
The only way to get them, that I'm aware of, is to put a live-trap (cage) at the entry/exit, and when you get one, immediately on approaching, throw a big ol blanket over the cage (you stand *behind* the blanket on approach), then drag the cage out and shoot them in the cage.
Now, I know that ain't a PETA-kinda thing to do, but hey, this is real life, you gotta live there....it's not a baby harp seal.

Yeah, I agree. I guess I could ask the PETA folks to come get 'em for me. Do you think they would???? We could also use the target practice though....the kids run too fast nowadays. I hunted deer with my dad when I was young, but never shot a skunk. I was thinking I could pay the neighbors to take care of the problem...that way the stench will probably be gone pretty much by the time I make a visit. This has gone way off the subject of small farmin, huh?

One thing unique about skunks, though....it's the only critter I've see around here that somebody hasn't said, "That's good eatin'!!"

Could ya use 'em for a fur coat? That may be a profitable small farm enterprise
