I live in Memphis; as mentioned, Germantown is far east of the city, so it would take you about an hour (probably less because you'd be leaving Gtown around 5am) to just get from the house to the TN/AR border at the bridge, plus another couple hours of driving to Little Rock, then whatever traffic LR has. Leaving the house at 5am and not getting home until 8pm...not fun. Plus the gas prices. And that stretch of interstate has a ton of semi-trucks, which slows it down a lot. Plus the bridges from TN to AR have had massive construction for oh, about 15 years now I could go on....but definitely get a place in LR, you won't regret it.

I was going to mention the truck traffic, but I see Pearlbob already has. This highway, especially around W. Memphis, is the worst for truck traffic. And not all of them are the friendly and considerate kind. Mingleing with them at freeway speeds on a motorcycle or a little tin car is not something you'd want to do every day.

Get a job in Memphis or live in Little Rock. If Little Rock, shop out the Bryant/Bauxite area for good accomodations at a reasonable rate.

All many thanks for your comments and I'm going to take up your suggestions and get a place in LR. I'm already looking at places to live so far...maumelle looks nice. I'll be in the area soon in 3 weeks, so I'm excited and hopefully I'll come to love LR and call it my new home.

I actually did that for a while....but a while ago

When you're younger you can do that sort of stuff. but

I40 is a boring long drive to LR..

So I ended up buying a condo at Cantrell and Reservoir in W LR

Little Rock in many ways is better off than Memphis....no kidding

Yes it's smaller but I grew to like it...well much more than Memphis

Whew...that drive from Forest Hill to LR was BRUTAL !!!

One option is to cut a deal (long term) with a nice extended stay

suite in w LR...go to work, and come to Memphis on the weekend

but that's a hassle too ...!

Good luck LR 'can' be fun
