Default Gems of the Ozarks - Print, TV, Movies

Growing up the culture of the Ozarks was firmly in my roots. My family spent most of their vacation time traveling Arkansas, viewing interesting places, holes in the wall, state parks, and tourist areas (traps). Up and down the Ozarks, these were places of my favorite memories including Branson (Ok it's Missouri but I still thought of it as Arkansas and it is clearly in the Ozarks).

This included things I saw on TV as a youth (Anyone say four stations in black and white) or reading in Arkansas Gazette or Democrat (Ok I'm dating myself - ). Not in any order, but the following references to Ozarks, were parts of my youth. I know I've missed some, so feel free to link or post for those that may have missed these gems.

Ok, on The Beverly Hillbillies, they mention towns in Ozarks including Bugtussle which is a real town in OK or "Eurekky Springs" . Growing up, I thought of Jed and Elly May just like "Lil Abner", or just somene up the mountains a bit ... just like me. Sadly, I never could get any Oil to shoot up from the ground. Maybe it was because I was using a BB gun ... grins.

Thanks for some very interesting reading. I lived in Branson, MO for a year in 1976. I had heard of "The Shepherd of the Hills" several times, but never caught on to what it was. Maybe I'll go see it sometime.

To add to your list:
Movie - Pass The Ammo

There's a lot more. This could become a very long list.
