I-49 in Arkansas?
Has anyone heard anymore about the progress of this project? I know that it's currently being built around the norteast side of Texarkana but that's all I know. Any info would be appreciated.

Here are some details for you about I-49.
Interstate 49 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Right now, a lot of the new work is near Texarkana for now. Also, keep in mind that the existing I-540 in Northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith will be part of the I-49 arterial.

I remember hearing that the I-540 section going through Ft Smith wouldn't be used for I-49 and that a whole other section would be built through or near Barling.

You can see what I believe is some early dirtwork at about 35 19 N 94 17 W on Google earth. Right between Barling and Fort Chaffee near 22.
This picture is pretty dated though I think that section of 22 has been 4 lanes for like two years! Not to mention most of those barracks burned like what a year ago? It was on the national news because the smoke was showing up on radar like a cloud. Not much of a loss though, they were all condemned.

This road is supposed to go through eventually through Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Bella Vista ultimately to Kansas City.
The Bella Vista Bypass will be part of this.

Here it is, just add concrete. Not to mention I had no idea that road I was driving on even existed and it hasn't been that long since I've been that way. This is in between Barling and Chaffee by the way.

Any idea how long this job is going to be? That seems like it will take forever.

Lots work going here in Texarkana. From Hwy 82 north allway to I-30 then on out to north part of town to tie the road back into 71 north. Dirt work looks to be done for the most part other than where they upgrade the old parts of Loop 245 and adding a bridge at 19th street... TXDOT also has the entire I-30 area messed up as there doing complete overhaul on the entire road and all bridges from Nash, TX to Loop 245/82 exit in Arkansas... Not sure on time frame we've had tons of rain and there behind... Louisana is building north on there part of northern leg that go from shrevport to texarkana... AR/549 still stops about 5 miles from the LA border...
