Tell me about living in Siloam Springs
We're thinking of moving and buying a home in Siloam Springs. Can anybody tell me more about the place. Pretty heavy Christian community from what I've heard. If we don't go to church will people look down on us? Surely there must be SOME people who arent avid church goers. We're easy going and good natured. We just wanna fit in.
Thanks.

I have a friend that lives there and he's planning on moving due to the illegals moving into the area. He's from California, and knows how they take over once they move in...

Siloam Springs
Well.....WHERE would be a GOOD place to relocate to in Arkansas? I sick of looking at all the new subdivisions around Fayetteville. We just want a smaller town with good people, quiet and easy going atmosphere. BUT...we dont want to live out in the boonies either. I've started looking toward SW Missouri. Seems a lot less crowded. We've had our hearts set on Arkansas. Im just getting confused.

Rogter, why don't you look closer to central Arkansas? There are a number of outlying communities from Little Rock, so you wouldn't be "in the boonies" at all. Greenbrier, Clinton, Conway, Russellville, Cabot...all are thriving towns within an hour or so of the greater Little Rock area. Not exactly sure what you mean by "the boonies" or what size town or amenities you are looking for - "boonies" can mean a lot of different things, all dependent on perspective. Maybe Hot Springs is for you. Are you looking for roughly the same size as Siloam?
There's so many places to choose from. I'm not sure I'd base my move on one person moving from the area...from your previous posts you seem entirely undecided. Perhaps a long road trip is in order?

I gotta agree with Sam.
Are you hooked on NWA?
There are scads of places that you outline, but you've gotta realize that NWA is the 'happening' part of the state. Lot's of growth, opportunity, shopping, medical, etc.
However, define your parameters a little more exactly, use the city-data tools to get an overview, google the areas that you might be interested in, and then you can ask about those specific areas here.
Remember that we all have very different needs and wants for where we live and thrive, and my paradise won't be yours, and vice-versa.
Hey, we're open 24/7 here, and make house calls right on your computer.

What about Centerton? My mom lives there. There are lots of different types of homes and I don't think it's a mecca for the ultra religious.

OK...here's our situation....we're both retired (50's) and have plenty of hobbies. We dont need the hustle and bustle or the nightlife. We'd love to find an old historic home to buy in a quiet neighborhood. Want to be within an easy drive of good shopping. Form my research I've found that Little Rock and Ft. Smith have a lot more crime plus the weather is supposedly hotter and more humid. We dont attend church so we dont we to be hounded because of that.

Hi, I live close to Siloam Springs, and I think it is a very nice town. Yes, there are churches there, and yes, lot's of people go to church there, but...that doesn't mean people will look down on you if you do not. I don't think you would have anything at all to worry about. I think it is a very pretty town, and there are some really neat stores there. I love going to flea mkts. etc, so I have enjoyed that. I really think it would be a great place to live. You just need to check it out for yourself. As far as illegals, well they seem to be moving in everywhere. I don't think that there are anymore there then there are anywhere else. It has a lot of great, old historic homes. I really love that about it. And if you want to shop in a big city, Tulsa is an hour and a half (or so) away. I think you would love it!

Hi again:-) I also forgot to mention, Rogers, Bentonville, Bella Vista, and Centerton are all nice little towns. I personally love that whole area because I lived there for 25 years. I watched it grow from a quiet area, to one that has a lot of hustle and bustle going on. Can't say I really like that part of it, because I liked how familiar and comfortable everything was before, but none the less, I love those areas of NWA. There are a lot of great things about Bentonville, and Rogers especially. It has been home to me, and as such I love the area. Best of luck!
