Default Life in Marianna

New here...

I've got family in Marianna, Arkansas and I know it is strongly religious - a definite plus for me - but I'm trying to find out what life is REALLY like in that area. How difficult is it to find work and housing? I have 5 children.

Last edited by LPJ68; 09-11-2008 at 10:45 AM.. Reason: Needed to specify which Marianna

The few people I know in Marianna work in West Memphis or Memphis proper. Available work is determined by your skill set. IT work is scarce with FedEx, IP, Autozone, etc all cutting back. I'm not sure about other industries.

I live in Helena, down the road about 30 minutes, and Marianna is SMALL.. their are tiny, ma and pa stores, no WalMart, no industry, notta.. you have to go to Helena, Wynne, Forrest City, or on a bigger scale, West Memphis- for stores, as for education, there is Lee Academy, the private school.. but the people and sense of community are great!! Industry,, WHAT'S THAT?? their are no real places to work.. you may find work if your a doctor or lawyer, they others are mainly minimum wage jobs.. best of luck, with 5 kids, you may want to live in Wynne or Forrest City, West Memphis, and visit the family in Marianna... God bless you and your family in your future..
