HSV or Belle Vista?
How would one compare the golf courses in HSV vs. Belle Vista? Both of these communites offer an intriging mix of amenities that are starting to make me reconsider them over the Mountain Home area. I never considered myself a "golf cart" type of person but the thought of having a broad social base in a planned community is starting to show some prospect. I need my fishing too and my wife loves hiking.
Thanks

From what I have heard the communities are similar but I haven't been to HSV, our daughter has, prefers BV. I can tell you we have a great feeling of community here and are close to shopping, hospitals, restaurants, etc. For us, it was a love at first sight. Some are not crazy over the widey roads as they are a little bad on icy days, but we just feel we will make sure we have plenty of water, wine and food to get us by as long as we have to stay inside. HSV is a totally gated community which appeals to some, not us. We also like being so close to the MO, and OK borders. Others might feel differently.
Both areas offer what you seem to be looking for.

Everyone will have their own opinion in this one but I would recommend Bella Vista to HSV anyday. The atmsophere in Bella is more relaxed and friendlier than HSV. Plus you have more to do outside the community being in NWA than you do around HSV. We too are looking into buying in Bella in the near future. Good luck with your search!

I suggest you visit both before you make a decision.
I've spent some time in Bella Vista, and it really wasn't for me....
* The lots tend to be smaller in BVV
* The houses are closer together in BVV (where there are actually houses - both have sparsely built areas)
* There is a wider variety of lots in HSV (view lots, more lots on golf courses, more lots on lakes).
* BVV is on septic where HSV is 100% sewer
* HSV has much better roads
* HSV has a lot less traffic
I have not played a course in BVV but HSV was rated #1 by Arkansas Business last year.

Jeff, how much time did you spend in BV? I am only asking because much of what you say, either isn't true or applies to only some areas, BV has townhouses, normal residentual lots, view lots, and acerage. The roads, for the most part are well maintained (not in all cases) there are as many trees as anywhere in the country I think, there is very little traffic except on 71 during morning and evening rush hour and we certainly have as many golf courses as anyone could want, plus lakes and lots of lake lots. Many of our areas have common grounds between lots so there will never be houses. yes, there are some areas that look just like standard sub devisions built on the golf courses. Actually the thing our daughter didn't like about HSV was close to what you are saying. She didn't say anything about traffic, but didn't like the distance to things like hospitals and thought the homes (we are talking $300,000 and above) were built cheaply with the landscapes lacking any personality. Of course you are aware BV was just rated in the top 40 cities in the United States and Fayetteville as well as all of NWA is in the top 10.
I am not saying one should not visit both, you should, but I really don't think you have a very good picture of BV.

I might also add that my aunt and uncle live in HSV and their HOA fees for their bigger lots and better roads are outragouse compared to those of Bella. The sense of community is not there in HSV either.

And Jeff's claim about septic/sewer is way off as well.

I forgot about that: yes, many of the newer areas are now on sewers. Even if not, sepic isn't the end of the world as long as you take care of them. We happen to be on Septic, would I like sewers, sure and yet when it came to deciding what house to buy, this really wasn't much of an issue.

Nita,
My brother and his wife visited Bentonville recently and thought it might be a nice town to consider relocating to in the future. I told them they should check out Bella Vista as a place to live if they did.
I'm wondering if you could post some pictures of the foliage from BV this fall? I've looked around a little on real estate sites and it appears that BV is very "leafy". I would be interested to see what it looks like in fall.

I would love to, but I don't know how. Our kids have been trying to teach us: I get someone else will post some for you.
