She said he told her about the holes in his head, too, and he also told her that people think he's crazy and that he shoots at people that come on his land, but that they have him mixed up with some guy that's dead and buried in the cemetery. LOL He said he guessed the holes in his head was why everybody thought he was crazy. She said he didn't seem dangerous at all, just a little eccentric. She has shown me where his place is....there is a low-water bridge you have to cross to get to his place. We drove out on the bridge one day to look at the creek, and turned around right on the other side....didn't get shot at. And he hasn't shot anyone since Mama bought the cabin, or we would have heard about it from our neighbor, who knows all about what goes on in that neck of the woods.
No, I'm not a teacher, I'm just a smart-aleck. But I have homeschooled my kids all their lives....my son just graduated this past May (made a 28 on his ACT, first and only try ) and my daughter is still in the 9th grade.
Anyway, I just wanted to give poor old Tom's side of the story. LOL

Well all I can say is, "WOW!"
That's amazing!
Yup! There is a low water bridge right next to the swimming hole on the road that had the alledged fence post with a can on it.
Well, I'm glad to finally get poor old Tom's side of the story. THANKS! I'm glad Joe's version turned out to not be true. That would be an awful set of circumstances for the area to live with.
Well, you sure sound like a teacher. Just look at how much you've taught me already on this thread!

Nice digs, Bull. I especially like the windows all the way across the back.
Trespassing is a strange thing around here. Not many people post their property, but there's a couple of "posted' signs here and there, and a couple of places with the purple paint sprayed on bordering trees.
I was told by a buddy down the road that when he was a child, whole groups use to come up from Batesville and Jonesboro, and just take over people's property.
It grew to a head, there were a couple of shootings, and that cooled things for a season.
Then some fools came up in a bus. About 10 guys, figuring that there was strength in numbers. Parked on a farm, and commenced to hunting that first day.
They got the point when the 3 sticks of dynamite went off under their bus.
We have a problem with road hunters around here. They'll shoot a deer, the deer will bound over a fence, and we'll eventually find it dead in the woods.
Here's another stab at the view from the front deck after a spring storm.

Whew! All those dark clouds and not a drop of rain?
What'd you end up doing to get it to post? What was the problem?
Doing any bow hunting?

Oh yeah...it rained and the wind blew and it theatened to tornado. Then it looked serene, kinda like God was saying....."Heh heh....shook y'all up on *that* one didn't I <wink-wink>?".
I really don't know what happened. Some sort of server issue. When I tried before, it said it had the attachment twice, but didn't fly. This time it picked it right up.
Nope...no bow, or muzzleloader.
I took up muzzleloader in '68, and gave it up in '68, when I couldn't acclimate to the intense cleaning issues. That was before stainless muzzleloaders, which made it *so* much easier.
I shot recurve bow until I took a job in the north in '86, and then gave it to my best friend/hunting partner as a token of surrender.
Ain't many deer running around the city, ya understand.
Neighbor was over yesterday, and I asked him if he was going out this morning, and he said, "Nope, it's gonna be cold and windy".
I got up and went outside for coffee as the sun was coming up, and he was 100% right.
My dog wouldn't even get off her wool blanket to come over and pester me, which is usually the highlight of her day when she knows I just woke up.
New rule.........."Dog won't leave blanket, too cold to hunt".
Last year I went out twice for buck, wimped out early, and gritted my teeth on the 3 day Christmas hunt to get a doe.
They're better eatin' anyway.
I think age and wussiness come in equal steps.

I appreciate the fact that the regular Arkansas posters have struck up cyber friendships but sometimes we get way off track in threads talking to one another. If someone is looking for relocation info it can be distracting. Gotta keep in mind this is primarily a relocation forum.
The only solution I can come up with is to make a chat thread that is a sticky for things that may not be of interest to a relocator but are of interest (maybe ) to those of us that live here or have strong ties. We could just chatter away in that one thread without detracting from "real" info.
Would anyone be interested in a thread like that? Some of the other state forums have a sticky thread for discussing gardening problems, local issues, or the results of the last football game. I can set one up and just call it Arkansas Chat, or if ya'll have a great name for a thread just DM me with it and we'll throw up a poll.

I am a moderator, Hope...there are several who keep watch over the Arkansas forum. If you need anything at all, please let me know. This thread was started for "conversational ramblings", if you will - not on any one topic. Moderators are noted by the gold star out beside their name on any post. Here is a link to the moderators for different forums, although it will be updated soon:
http://www.city-data.com/forum/faq/1...tors-list.html
Most all the posters in the Arkansas forums are regulars...please let us know if we can be of assitance, or check the About the Forum section at the bottom of the forum home page.

Let's go buy big houses!!!!!!
Hey, I dunno about y'all, but this "bailout" thing going on has me shaking my head to the point that I'm being mistaken for a life-size RogMar bobble-head doll.
The AIG thing, with their constant partying while holding one hand out was bad enough.
These multi-milion dollar "Golden Parachutes" for executives that ran their companies in the ground is salt in the wound.
Now, it's GMC, bleeding $53,000 a *minute*.
Yes...$53,000....tick..tock..tick..tock.
The argument is, "All these people will lose their jobs, so we need a bailout".
"Hey.....Luuuuuuuuucy...I'm home...and you in trouble plenteee".
Because *somebody* hasn't been watching TV or reading the newspaper, because more people than that have lost their jobs already, without a bailout offer.
OK, we're paying the bill for Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, bleeding money, and now we're supposed to bleed more for major corporations and people that over-reached on their home aspirations?
Man....is it just me, or is anyone else expecting to hear Rod Serling do the opening to "The Twilight Zone"?
"You are about to enter another dimension.................."

RogMar, I have been feeling like maybe I'll wake up and the financial world will make sense to me again! I didn't like the hurry up bail out - now that has changed. I don't like rewarding poor choices. We aren't about to enter another dimension we have already entered a whole new world! The number of people filing for unemployment is shocking and growing daily. A lot of those people have mortages.
I just want to watch my waterfall and feed my fish. The news makes me sad.

I agree! The news has gotten way too depressing! The current economic situation we find ourselves in will not be so easy to get out of. It has caused so much turmoil as it is, I hate to see how much worse it will get.
