Born and raised in Dermott. Spent 4 years in Monticello going to college (go Boll Weevils and Cotton Blossoms!). Spent a year and a half in Fayetteville getting an MBA (go Hogs!). 3 and a half years in Sheridan. 6 months in Whitehall but still have family there so I visit a lot. 3 years in west Little Rock before moving out of state. Technically, I'm less than 20 miles from Arkansas right now though.

I live where Stacie says to run from and have all my life. It's not all that bad. I do have a place in north Arkansas that I plan to live one day. The sooner the better. But right now, with the job market like it is, I hate to be the low man on the totem pole anywhere. If things don't turn around pretty soon, my job of 15 years may not exist any longer either.
Back to the subject, north Louisiana and south Arkansas are about the same in my opinion. You really have to go to south Louisiana to really see a big culture difference. I know some people down south and they consider everyone above Alexander Louisiana to be just an extension of Arkansas.

WEll, where I am from? Do you mean the last place I lived or originally?
born and raised in So. Ca, spent many years living in Northern part of the state.
IN 1981 we moved to D.C. area for about 7 years, then to the Dallas area for 13 years.
We left Dallas for NM in 2001, thought we would live there forever, but it wasn't for us and we missed being closer to part of our family so discovered NWA. We will be here as long as God let's us remain on earth..

North Louisiana isn't all bad, you just happen to live in Farmerville. lol
Mardi Gras in Shreveport (which is also in north Louisiana) drew well over 500,000 people this year, and we had the Super Bowl of bass fishing, the Bassmaster Classic going on at the same time. That event alone probably brought in 25,000-50,000 people.
Stacie, north Louisiana would be much more enjoyable if you moved about 90 miles to the west.

I was born in central Louisiana, southeast of Alexandria and lived there until 1962. Moved to a New Orleans suburb and lived there until 1976. Entered the military and ended up in California. I stayed in California after my enlistment ended and have been there ever since, but I'm very anxious to leave this state. I'm looking forward to retirement in Tennessee!
