Now we move ahead to a great basketball season, and even better baseball season. Of course we will soon have the starting of the football bowl games missing AR but there are a lot of fun games ahead...

I ended up getting to watch the first half. Merciful heavens....

Boy, how times have changed. Sitting there listening to one of the CBS announcers try to tell me how coach Morris' suspension of 2 starters for flirting with the opposing teams cheerleaders during their pre game warm up a week ago is a "fine line" and that it could negatively affect recruiting because some players might leave and others might not come. What he was really saying was that the inmates are now running the asylum, right? Since when is a coach disciplining players (and believe me, Arkansas players apparently NEED a LOT of discipline judging by this years performance) a "fine line" of any sort? This is not pro football, these guys are still in SCHOOL, and part of school - even at the college level - is learning discipline. Athletes these days have become so entitled and pampered they think the coach has no authority over them, and if they get punished for something that it must be a personal (and yes of course, often a racial) form of disrespect. Just like with everything else in sports, I am sure am glad I got to experience the good ol' days, where if you violated team rules you paid the price and if you whined about it you got shown the door. I sure must be an old fogey to be talking like that, I know! In that aspect, I commend the coach. In all other aspects, it was a horror of a season. Eastern Illinois and Tulsa. That was it. Goes without saying that significant improvement will be expected next year. Will Kelly Bryant be the QB in 2019? At this point I kinda hope so. I saw NOTHING from ANY of those QB's this year that made me comfortable about them being at the helm next season. Storey in particular was a big disappointment after it looked like he might be the answer in his first couple starts. Cole Kelly was a disaster. Noland is still young, so maybe.....and did you see yesterday that even Jerry Jones grandson got into the game at the end?

And what about Chavis the D coordinator? This guy was brought in to clean up the mess left by his predecessor Robb Smith (who followed me up here to MN and didn't even make it through 2 seasons before he was fired by the pitiful Gophers). Look, everyone gets a pass for their first year, but this is a proud program and 2-10 is not going to cut it at any level. The players on both sides of the ball looked lost and worse - lazy - much of the season, and that just can't be tolerated, nor do I expect it to be.
