My wife and I are moving from Ontario, Canada to Hot Springs, Arkansas and plan to move there within the next few months.

I was wondering if anybody more familiar with the city than I am could help me out with some things. I'm originally from Texas and have gone to Hot Springs for vacations with my family several times and my wife and I have been there once. I was wondering if anybody knew of possible neighborhoods that we'd need to avoid as far as places to live in Hot Springs? (if there are such neighborhoods)

Also we're hoping to find a low rent apartment preferably all bills paid which allows small pets because we do have a cat. So if anybody knows of any good apartments as well as possible neighborhoods to avoid, the state of the economy in Hot Springs, how Hot Springs is as far as living there or whatever else information you may happen to have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys, I'm looking very forward to reading your replies.

Take a look at some of the other Hot Springs area threads in here. I know we just discussed this a week or so ago. I hope you find the info you are looking for.

Smile Hot Springs Area

When choosing an apartment, I would avoid the downtown area as much as possible, especially if you have children. Hot Springs itself is very nice and there are quite a few apartment complexes. I would ask to stay towards the side of Hot Springs closest to Bismarck (west side), unless you wanted to move to Hot Springs Village, which is a little pricier. There are also quite a new small towns around Hot Springs with their own school districts (Hot Springs school district is not the best). You might consider getting into contact with a relocation realtor. Crye Leike is quite large in the Hot Springs Area.
Alternatively, my husband is from Bismarck, about 20-30 minutes away from Hot Springs. Bismarck is a very nice, small town with a definite country-living feel. There is only one apartment complex, but there are usually some nice homes for rent in the area. The schools are good and the neighborhoods are all quiet. [mod] edit [/mod]Overall, I do enjoy living in the Hot Springs area. There are plenty of things to do and lots of beautiful places to go. It's an absolutely gorgeous area with plenty of oppurtunities for nature-lovers. When you do make the move, I hope you enjoy it.

Also, you can lease a condo for about the same price as an apartment in a complex. You can get a really good deal until racing season starts in Feburary as it's very difficult to rent them between Labor Day and the start of racing season.
