Jerry Springer's guests from Arkansas aren't true idiots.
That guy from Arkansas who was on --Deal or No Deal----looked to be in his 30's, ( lived with his sister who hoped he could win enough to buy a cheap house and move out) was a true idiot.
Danced around and acted "cool", turned down every offer, and went home with nothing.
The amazing part was he ( and other losers who got nothing )were invited back for a 2nd chance and he did it again!
Acted like an idiot, turned down the offers, and went home with nothing.
My sympathy to his sister and the Arkansas school teacher who had the impossible job of teaching him.

I came over from the UK years ago... I can't figure out why you would want to move to Arkansas? I suggest you visit a few states before making a decision.

wow, first you can't stand living in Texas, now you are here judging a state you have never visited. Just to let you know, most of AR is more mid western than southern. The Delta is a little more southern.
You are afraid to come here, what are you afraid of, someone might actually say Hi, ya all? Or do you think we marry our cousins, were overalls to church and park our cars on the front lawn. Or maybe you think someone will offer you some moonshine?
At least you don't have to be afraid of our highways like you are in Texas?
Nita
ps: would you like living here? Nope, not from all your posts elsewhere, you would not like it, but to say someone else wouldn't or you can't understand why a person from UK would move here is really off the wall. Popeye didn't say where in UK he/she lives. There is more to UK than London I might add. Maybe they live in the country side.

At one point he was offered $65,000 and his sister was near tears begging him to take it.
Howie asked if $65,000 was enough to buy a house in his town in Arkansas.
He stated---" A house? I could but the whole town"
Then he screamed--" NO DEAL " -- and did a dance
The audeience loved him cuz they love idiots who go home with no money.
I doubt the State of Arkansas will hire him for their video promoting the state

He gambled and lost. He's not representative of the people of the state. He's just one person out of a million people. The stereotypes of the Beverly Hillbillies or Dogpatch are exaggerated for entertainment purposes. The sad thing is that some people will never appreciate the diversity that Arkansas offers, because they live in a world where stereotypes dominate their viewpoints, and they choose to avoid one stereotype. But Arkansas is not only diverse in terms of geography or climate, its people are diverse, its culture is diverse. There is a rich history that matches the lushness of the Delta lowlands, the depth of the Ouachita forests. The views of its people are as varied as the views from the bluffs scattered through the Ozarks. To think that Arkansas is dominated by Ma and Pa Kettle is to ignore 99% of the population of Arkansas.

and you believe what you see on Jerry Springer? I can't imagine anyone would even watch him anymore, much less take his show seriously?
I have lived quite a bit longer than you I suspect, lived in 8 states, from California to New England and traveled out of our country many times. Like all states, AR has its good and not so good points. We have wonderful people who live in the country, we have lots of people enjoying a little more of the city life. Just like people in Texas or anywhere else for that matter.
Oh, and by the way, you mention Alabama, you obviously know nothing about that state either..What do you know about, lets say, Huntsville, AL for starters?
Yes, some people living in AR do not like it or want to stay, some like Hotair, who I rarely, politically agree with, want to improve the state but he is not dieing to leave. I could continue but it would be a waste of time and energy. You know too much even if you know very little.

Methinks that you are a bit too obsessed about him.

Not at all.
I just want to know if he was exagerating when he said $65,000 would buy the entire town rather than just 1 house in it.

Yeah, but sometimes people are too 'rich'..
Or too 'good looking'...
Or too 'talented'...
It happens with states also.
