In another thread someone mentioned how cool Google Earth is and that it's free....I went to the site and found one for download....4.3 or something like that...is that the one that is free? I couldn't seem to find that out on the site. I'd kinda like to have that so I could look at Arkansas anytime I wanted while I'm stuck in Louisiana!

yup its free, I use it all the time. NW Arkansas has it's own speical brown satelitte picture

Google Earth is great. And if you have internet access you can just use Google Maps to see the same things. Another good one is Live Search Maps...depending on where you live, one can be better than the other.

Google barely shows my house as a gray blob, but Live Search shows my car in the driveway and my laundry on the line!

Some parts of AR are mapped out better than others.

I couldn't get the Live Search thing to do anything on bird's eye.

It doesn't work in all areas. Kind of like Google doesn't have "street view" everywhere yet. I was trying to find my Brother's place in Clarksville but it wouldn't show up either. Try dragging the map closer to Little Rock and it should show up.

Inaccurate in my neck of the woods.

I'm not being critical, ya understand, can't expect 100% on anything.

I cracked up when I saw the latest google earth of our area, and how clearly I could pick out my neighbors "auto graveyard" and how many cattle he had in which field.

Wow, I've got to get this so I can "visit" the cabin anytime I want! I hope it's on there.

Well, I downloaded the free Google Earth and can't get a clear view of the cabin when I get very close. The bird's eye view on Live Search doesn't work in that area, either. Probably would have to pay $400 to the the Pro version of Google Earth to be able to see anything really well. Shoot....my mom is at the cabin right now....how cool would it be to be able to see her car parked there?

I'm sure one day that live, real-time satellite pictures will be available to any old Joe Blow on the internet, but boy, wouldn't that just open up a can of worms as far as spying and invasion of privacy is concerned?
