Greers Ferry AR - Lakefront community
We're in Greers Ferry AR --- been here on Greers Ferry Lake for four years. It's in north-central part of the state, about 70 miles north of Little Rock. Great place for fishing, hunting, no traffic, good people and quiet, quiet living. If anyone is interested in knowing more about this small community on a very large lake, let me know.
BTW, this is my first entry into this web site. Lots of good info here for relocating. We're looking to move to the MD/DE area next summer to be closer to family there on the east coast. Any info on active adult communities in MD/DE greatly appreciated.

Okay, so i dont know where guy was living but to me Arkansas is a VERY friendly state. As with any state there is going to be a little bit of racism but its not like we go around throwing black people into fire or killing white people on stakes. As far as im aware theres barely any racism at all. Also my grocery store is only 5 seconds away so whatever hodunk town he was living in was definetly not of any importance.

Northwest Arkansas is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of Ar. I have lived several places and NWA has most everything a person needs. The Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, Bella Vista area is basically one large metropolitan area with a combined pop of 200,000 plus. With the Wal-Mart money came plenty of more money and businesses and services to take care of the 'higher end' clientel. High end shops(Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn...) and restaurants, specialty shops, golf courses,
parks, museums, walking trails. The natural beauty is still here with the lakes, mountains, rivers, streams. I live about 20 miles from Rogers west and still feel like I'm rural despite being able to be in a metro area in less than 30 mins. I have traveled to KC many times for business and pleasure 3 1/2 hrs north but I don't have to go there because we have many of the same businesses here. The people that I have seen respond about Arkansas my not have visited NWA in a while. They don't see the same place I see on a daily basis. I enjoy other places in the U.S and I have traveled to 48 states but I am always glad to be back in NWA. Our area of the state is not racist, bigoted or unfriendly. We are an energetic, exciting melding of all kinds of people from all over the world. I have friends from Mong to Mennonite and do enjoy the people that have moved here with Wal-Mart and their vendor companies from all over the U.S. I sound like the NWA Chamber of Commerce but it's true.

And I too often sound like I work for the Chamber, cause you and I share the same feelings. This is the only place we have ever lived where we have a true feeling of rural living and still all the conveniences we need at our finger tips.
