The People Of Northwest Arkansas.
I have lived in NWA for 13 years (I am originally from central Arkansas)and I can say for the most part I have found a lot of the people here to be some of the rudest and most downright meanest people I have ever been around in my life. I hate attacking people, as it goes against my christian beliefs, but I just really can't take it anymore. If the economy was better I would consider moving somewhere else(I moved up here with my parents as I was 14 in 1995) so I feel like I am stuck here. I don't know if it is the people moving here from places like California, I would like to think that the people coming from places like that are moving here for a more laid bakc atmosphere, but they sure are not helping things.

Where in NWA do you live? This certainly hasn't been our experience. I think some of the nicest people I have met live right here. Sure, there are those who are just plain rude, some from other places, some from here, but we haven't experienced what you have. The little kids are polite, everyone in the grocery stores are polite, they have box boys that acutally carry out your groceries, etc.

You are about to start a turdstorm. I hope you're prepared. (And I agree with you fully, but I'm still going to duck behind something.)

I like NWA, but they seem to never let us forget they are "above" Fort Smith.

We are north of Ft Smith. I'm just kidding.
I agree with the OP, most people in NWA don't seem to give a flip aboout anyone else. The whole area is very cliqueish because every little town here is so separate from the other. I don't mind it though, I've lived in ruder areas of the country long enough to grow a backbone.

I've lived in quite a few places around the country. Large and small. To me, the people of NWA are no different than those of north-west any other state. There are a few good ones, and there are quite a few bad ones.
When you consider the society we live in today where human life has no value, why would people not be as rude as they are?
as for the comment -

Save your money (like I wish I had). If there is a place with nicer people out there, just remember....
it will be nice, until you arrive (again, speaking from personal experience).

The boys carrying out your groceries is one thing I miss about the south. Up north here they look at you like you are crazy if you ask them to! And banks, very few banks up here have drive throughs due to pipe bombings by kids years and years ago.
Trust me, I have lived in Shreveport, Houston, Albuquerque and now Ohio. Some people are just born rude and there is nothing you can do to change that. You are going to find those kind of people no matter where you live!

I think brajoh brings up a good point, even if it ain't politically correct sometimes we have to bring it up to really decipher what the problem really is! My question is:
What do you determine as friendly though??? For example, I am from Colorado and I think people back home are REALLY friendly although more "live and let live" friendly, no one is judgmental, it's more like "peace and love man!" but people ain't really helpful, for example if you move into a new home, your neighbors surely won't help you unload, nor will they bake you some cookies. So what is friendly mean to you?

Good point RangerDuke. Albuquerque was much the same way as you describe Colorado. Very laid back, sometimes a little too much. But the crime, gangs, etc. there got so bad women were not going out at night to the grocery store, malls, etc. We had three female clients killed in a two month period of time just leaving stores, etc. and that is when we said "enough was enough." I would rather live with a few rude people around, than have to worry about going outside after dark!
