Bentonville
Hello. My name is Stacy and my husband and I currently live in N.E. Ohio. I was born in Fort Smith, but was raised in Shreveport. We are thinking of moving back down south to be closer to our son and grandson, but don't want to live in Louisisana again. I will still work, but my husband is retired.
If you had a choice would you save Bentonville or Bella Vista is the better place to live for people our age?
Thank you in advance.

The two towns are right next to one another so there isn't much difference between them. Bella Vista is suburbia while Bentonville is stripmall city.

I would say Bella Vista. You have some peace and quiet there while still being very close to all the in town attractions of Bentonville.

North West Arkansas.
I would not move to NW Arkansas. This part of the country is contolled by Wal-Mart. I have been here for over 25 years and find the people in the area at this time to be rude and care little about the community.

Wow. Thank you all for your responses. I appreciate it.
Why do you think the people in NW Arkansas are rude? I have to admit, I have read that on here under other threads, but kinda thought maybe it was just that one persons opinion.
Sounds like things have changed since I lived down south.

IMO either town is going to be better living than Shreveport! Maybe you could just rent for a period of time to get your own feel for the area. There are numerous small towns in that general area. It is so hard to tell what is going to be the best fit until you spend a little time there.
I've been reading about the rude people in NW AR also. I've been around the area for many years and can not think of any rude behavior that I have not also seen in other parts of the whole country. Actually less than some - LSU fans are rude where ever you find them.
Put on a smile and park your ego. The world will feel like a much happier place.
The South change??? I don't think so.

Thank you for your response. I moved away from the south in 1985. You want to meet some rude people, live up north for a while. LOL
I think we will plan a trip down there and take a look around. It is nice to have this forum though to ask questions of those who already live there, or close by.
Thanks again.

 I'm guessing you're a Hog fan?
I never noticed people in Baton Rouge being any more rude than NWA. People here are just as rude as anywhere else. Honestly, I've never noticed northerners being ruder but I'm not the kind of person that cares how other people act.

AMEN!!!
There's some great areas up north, but I got my right hand in the air and *testifying* when I tell you there's regions where if you don't want to get dissed, don't walk out the front door!
20 years of working in Chicagoland......man, good thing I'm not the sensitive type.

We just moved here from Hot Springs, Arkansas, and I was born in Texas, and I actually find the people in nwa have much more hospitality than anywhere else. Everyone was so helpful when we set up all our utilities, even people at the gas station are just,... well... nice. It's as if people go out of their way just to help you. We made the move for my boyfriend's company, they opened a new branch here, and even the people who work for delivery agencies are nice. They go out of their way to call when they're going to make a deliver and don't mind waiting for someone to drive to the business so we can have them put the delivery inside instead of leaving it outside, even though it's not really their problem and is taking up their time. People are even nicer when I go shopping, more helpful and interested in what I have to say. It's almost like a different world here, to me.
