How are gas prices in Arkansas?
They're down here. In the large city nearest here, it's below $3/gallon....$2.97 or so, I heard a couple of days ago. Still $3.47 in my little town, but that's down from where it was, at least.
I remember 2 or 3 years ago when we were making a trip to the cabin....gas was $1.85 at Russellville at the Pilot and Flying J (usually the cheapest places in that area), and we thought that was obscene. We didn't know how we were going to be able to keep making the trip at those prices! The last time we went, we paid over $3.
You think that was their plan all along? To make people feel like $3/gallon was great?

The lowest I saw over the weekend was 2.77 in Sheridan.
I drove from NW Arkansas to Little Rock to south Arkansas this past Friday, and aside from one or two places, all were at 2.99 or lower.

$2.59 yesterday I think on the Mo boarder. We didn't need it so I am not positive...Someone said OKC is $2.49.

As long as I can remember, this has been the pattern:
1. Stable prices
2. "Wild" runups
3. Price relaxation
4. Stable plateau
5. Rinse, repeat...
"Wild" always seems to be relative to current conditions and I can't quite put a finger on percentage or anything like that. It also may vary in rates at which the prices rise. The stable plateau can last anywhere from 1 to 5 years with only standard inflation rates and then BOOM you get the wild and rapid rise again. This runup was one of the worst I can remember. I used to think it was a bit of a conspiracy to acclimate us to prices but now I'm beginning to think it really is just the market forces.

Well, since this morning the price has fallen to $3.17 from $3.47, just got out and noticed that. My son said it was $2.97 yesterday in a town about 4 miles from here.
I sure hope grocery prices follow soon, although they probably won't for a while, because everyone will probably be expecting the gas prices to go up again anyway.

I just saw regular unleaded for $2.71 here in Conway (corner of Prince and Morningside). That's the lowest price I've found. 8/14/08

was thinking the same: yesterday in Sams I kept thinking, the prices should be lower..I didn't take into consideration, gas has only been going down drastically for a few weeks.
