I would like to know more about Crossett as well....we may be relocating very soon and I'm checking out all options right now so we can make the decisions as soon as it falls into place. I would like to know about rentals and schools. We are looking for something somewhere between Monroe, LA and Crossett, AR. Family-friendly place to raise our kids.

There's the paper mill that runs the length of town, every high school boys dream is a job at the paper mill, that's where daddy works, and papaw worked. There's serious drug use for a small town, unemployment is high, fog from the paper mill settles over town, it smells like well wet paper. The people who live there says it smells like money, it doesn't. You want to look for something EAST of Pine Street or in the Lakewood subdivision. West Crossett is a drug infested ghetto. Prepare for lots of mosquitoes, and insanely high humidity. Everyone goes to Monroe, LA to shop or eat out. Ashley County is a dry county, but there's plenty of bootleggers to keep you happy if you are so inclined. Wet Willy's is right across the river in Union County which is wet, you can also get your alcohol there. The people from there are clannish, closed to any new ideas, and suspicious of outsiders. I would rather live in Baghdad than Crossett, Arkansas. Good luck to you.

Is that Willy's "oasis in the woods"? I had a beer huggie from there back in college. I don't remember ever going there though.

I don't live there but I have at least a dozen college friends who live and raise their families in Crossett. They seem to like it.
