Uh-huh, with only one Republican in our federal delegation, that Republican being from the progressive Northwest AR area.

1) NWA is not progressive as a whole. There are elements there, but overall, it's a very conservative area.
2) Party designation does not matter so much in Arkansas. I've learned since being here that there are Democrats and there are 'Arkansas Democrats'. Arkansas Democrats tend to be as conservative as the most conservative Republicans. There's nothing progressive about Mike Ross or Marion Berry. Add those guys with Boozman, and you get a Congressional delegation that is 75 percent conservative. Vic Snyder is the lone holdout. And don't get me started on the Republicans-Disguised-As-Democrats representing Arkansas in the Senate. How embarrassing.

I believe Bill Clinton was more fiscally conservative than George Bush. (W)

I've lived in Arkansas for 6 years and think it is great. The Razorback pride gets a little annoying but what can you expect? It's all they have for sports. The best part about it is the ability to access big-city amenities; then drive 30 minutes and be in the middle of nowhere.

you got it 100% except for the Razorback thing::: maybe if my granddaughter hadn't graduated from there last sprng I would feel the same.
Seriously, when we lived in the DC area in the 80s it was the same with the Skins...No, really major colleges (sports wise) in the area and only a lousy pro basketball team so the entire town and the burbs lived and breathed RedSkins, we still do...

[quote=RogMar;6125787]Heh......
At one time, I had hair down to my shoulders, and a beard, and that's exactly what I looked like when I raised my hand and enlisted in the military.
Then I raised my hand again, and volunteered for Viet Nam. The same war that I had spent so much time protesting and then returning to the safety of my college dorm room.
Thank you. (sister of two that missed the draft - but not by much).
