LiveTodayLez---I love your posts. I love how much passion you've shown about the things you care about, how interested you are in what's going on around you and not only in your own life. I think wherever you end up, you'll make a positive contribution to your community.

Strong showing compared to who? JFK? Kerry? We all know that Kerry had a stronger showing in AR than Obama did. People of Arkansas voted more for McCain than dubya. Please explain to me the strong showing thing.....cause im still scratching my head

And I love GetmeoutofAR's posts, too! Because I love to argue, and because I love hearing about the experiences and opinions other people have. It's exciting that people can so freely share on the internet what they love and hate about most anything you can think of. So even if I hardly ever agree with GetmeoutofAR, I'm happy to have the opportunity to know about this poster.

Kerry actually campaigned in Arkansas. He actually stopped in the state. He actually had a media campaign with ads in newspapers and on television. He got, what, 46% with a campaign. Anybody who had ZERO visits to a state, who placed NO media ads in the state, and still got 40% of the vote, that's a strong showing considering no effort.

i agree that Obama completely ignored Arkansas. He certainly didnt deserve to win AR and he didn't. Though how a stuffy rich New Englander like Kerry can do better than Obama in AR still kinda puzzles me campaigning or no campaigning. Does campaigning in a state really make that much of a difference anyway?

I never thought I'd hear that from you but thanks.
Sometimes I let my passion get the best of me...as if you haven't seen that already......
I hope to make a positive contribution before I die, it's all I really care about most days. If I didn't have to work, I'd be out volunteering...even though I could be doing that now as I type....

And many are probably glad you are going to stay. There are so many ways to make a difference, even if we do not always agree, if we can try and work together for the betterment of our state and country we will all come out ahead. It is easy to run away, harder, but more satisfying to stay and see things through.

I doubt I'd have a chance at winning but maybe once I teach there for a while and if education hasn't gotten any better, I can run for a state representative position. It's certainly worth a shot.
I've looked at Wikipedia a while back, just perusing communities that have a high percentage of African Americans.
Maybe we'll find out more with this next Census coming up. I plan on trying to land a job being a census worker.
