Default Where are my black people?

Of course if you're white, Latino, Asian, biracial, multiracial, etc you're certainly welcome.

What do you think of this: Ark. blacks can't break state, Congress barrier - Yahoo! News

This is soooo true and it casts a horrible light on most of AR. But......not my long time home NWA....It either stayed neutral or trended democratic. NWA needs to be annexed into SW Missouri.

Instead, lets annex the Fort Smith region (one of the most racist in the state) into Oklahoma, the Harrison region into Missouri, and the delta into Mississippi, and our state will start looking much, much better on the national scene.

I doubt it.

Please keep Harrison to yourself, or least give it to Oklahoma, too. Missouri's okay just the way it is, but we'll give you the boot heel, if you really want it.

Quite honestly, I can't remember an African-American running for a statewide office or Congressional seat. It's hard to win if you don't run. And that makes the article rather silly.

Nevertheless, imo, Tracy Steele (African-American Democratic state representative from Little Rock) is probably the rightful heir to Vic Snyder's Congressional seat -- should Vic ever decide to retire.

WELL!!!! <hands on hips tapping foot> That's it.......let's just close this state and go home!

Marian.....get the lights, will ya?

The media loves to stir the pot.

I refuse to be a shill.

I am in constant wonderment with this race thing.

Somebody told me once, many, many years ago, during racially tense times, "think about what you say, reverse the situation, and see if you feel offended or spited".

As the years went on, we all saw this country evolve into a much more accepting melting pot. I remember very well the segregation in the south, and the north. In the north it was unspoken, in the south it was vocal.

A few years back, a black business owner in Detroit lobbied to have a multi-block section of town oficially designated as a "black-owned business district", to exclude whites from opening businesses there.

Why should race even enter into this, or anything else?

For all you know, RogMar could be a bald, black, superfly, Shaft kinda guy.

Or a pimply-faced asian kid sitting in the basement of his mother's house banging away on his laptop.

What difference does it make? I offer my meager contributions to this forum and one either reads it or doesn't.

When I do business with a store, I could care less what the ethnicity/religion is of the owner. I'm putting money in their pocket and getting a good/service from them.

When the media wants to stir the pot and jump around saying, "Hey...hey...look at this...no black politicians...whatta ya think about that....huh...huh?"

OK, how many have run and got defeated? How many times?

The majority of the state voted for McCain?

That's a deal sealer?

Well........let's bring up Harrison, and "sundown" citys, and if we travel far enough back in time, we can dredge up a bunch of pre-civil war stuff to make our case.

Sorry, I'm just not buying it.

I see that as nothing but an inflammatory article, and there are many of them, that has no productive purpose. It serves only to pick at a scab on the back of this country that should be left alone to heal.

There are injustices in many arenas through the years. If one is seeking something to be bitter about, there's a virtual dresser frawer full of items.

Do you have any idea the atrocities commited against U.S. soldiers by the Chinese during the Korean war? We do much commerce with China now, and they're some of our best buddies.

But if the media started dragging that up, how many people would jump on that bandwagon and start China-bashing?

But....you know what? I just realized that we have no Armenian politicians either.

Nor Estonians.

What percentage of this state is hispanic, and where are our hispanic politicians?

C'mon.......we got bigger fish to fry.

I refuse to classify anybody by race or religion, and I can't think of any body I know who would.

I don't care if a person running for office is black/white/gay/straight or handicapped, and don't think the majority of the population of Arkansas do either. They care, as I do, about what direction you're going to take us and what's it going to cost me.
