[quote=weaverar;6222568]I agree tht the age is on the very young side as stated in my previous post (11/18) but I don't think that gender should matter if the child enjoys the event. As a young girl I hunted and fished. I also snow skied and was swiming the first season after starting to walk. There were rules to be followed and dire consequences if they were not followed for all of the sports that I participated in as a child.

Gender? I am male and I wasn't ready to shoot a dear when I was six.

I can't help but wonder how many of these were shot by a proud papa and then gave the kid credit for the photo op. If so that is a very bad example. A really rotten lesson for a youngster starting out in life.

If the children could run a little faster would it fair to hunt them then? There's no sport in picking off the slow ones.

I'd bet a dollar to a donut it will happen. We may never hear of it but it will happen. Problem is it will just be a private family joke.

I grew up in Little Rock and was always a "city boy", never really hunted or had a desire to and fished a little but never got into it.

I'm fishing a little more now and want to spend time with my son doing it as I get older.

Now, I have no issues with children hunting with their parents in a careful, controlled manner. Aren't we just a couple generations away from this being a necessity or rural life? I just don't see what people get so riled up about.

Honestly, I think the most important thing is the parents are spending time with their children.
