Stupid question: Brick oven style pizza,or do they have some sort of agreement with the Brick Oven Chain?

Not the worst, but WAY,WAY,WAY overrated. I've only gone once, but I didn't feel the need to go back. The main thing about Larry's was that the brother of a friend of ours made a big fuss about the place. He also made a point of slamming every restaurant that we liked, and being quite obnoxious about it.

Brick oven style. The best brick-oven style place is called ZaZa's and is off of Kavanaugh in the Heights. They do it up there, same folks that own Boulevard Bread. All they serve are salads, pizza and gelato.

I've heard ZaZa is quite good. I'm not sure if we would be "hip" or "cool" enough to go in there though.

Why no love for Grady's Pizza's and Subs? They have the best red sauce in the state IMO.

ZaZa's (or whatever it is called) is pretty good pizza - however, it's thin crust. I'd much rather prefer to bite into something thicker and more filling.

It's worth a try though.

I actually work at NYPD Pizza , been there since Sep. or so. I like it a lot, especially the Meatlover's pizza. I would recommend the Meatlover's or the Alfredo pizza. Also, The problem isn't really that we are understaffed, because we usually don't get too terribley busy, although we could use another member on Fridays, btu we survive.

I am no pizza specialist or anything, but NYPD definitely has an individual taste you can't get anywhere else, maybe that is what some call a NY style(I personally have no clue what NY pizza is like). When I eat there myself as a customer, I find it to not be as good as when I make a pizza to take home after work(though of course I do try and make my pizza perfect ) One thing I do notice is that I wait longer to pull the pizzas, i let them get nice and crisp on the crust. I assure you though, I am not burning them.

I will say to anyone who maybe didn't like it the first time around to give us a second chance. We have a good kitchen staff finally and we are pumping out some top notch pizza in the past month.

Also, places I would suggest would be NYPD Pizza of course. US Pizza is amazing. I can't say it is better or wosre then NYPD because it is a different style, but it is brilliant pizza. Shotgun Dan's is really good, but I haven't been there in over two years. That is all I can think of at the moment. I will say that anyone who likes quality food should never step food into Larry's. That palce is basically just the new Cici's Pizza; cheap, greasey, and defintely not hot and fresh. I think it is probably the worst pizza ever, even if it is supposed to be on the cheap side.

Nick.

Nick,

NYPD is a very good restaurant! It's out of the way for us,but we've managed to eat there 4 or 5 times. My wife and I really love it. Remember that you will never please everyone no matter what!

As for Grady's,I've heard of it and even seen it. I can't remember for the life of me where it is though!
