Camden,Arkansas
If you are moving from your current place and have not really made your mind on where; consider Camden. You will find beautiful flowers there. Check the chamber of commerce website about the nationally acclaimed Daffodil Fest. This is also home to a beautiful high bank river that is navagatable to the Gulf of Mexico, great hunting and fishing, camping with a 15,000 acre lake well into the planning stage and I 69 soon to be a reality 10 miles South of town. Historically, In 1850 Camden was the second largest city in Arkansas due to it being a seven county hub for the shipping of cotton to New Orleans by steamship. The Civil War battlefield and historical places around town from that period make this place unique. As a life long resident i`ve traveled far and wide and this place has the clean air and natural beauty that Arkansas is know for and compairs to any place of beauty. We need new people here and if you like the discription; this is your place.

I grew up in Camden and left when I was 22. Camden is a lot like Peyton Place, in the sense that the young people who grow up there leave. I love Camden because it is my home town, but the city fathers had and have no vision. It has the Quachita River running through it, but unfortunately it is not utilized like other cities use their rivers. The river actually runs by the down town area, but you will not find any restaurants on the river, in the down town area. With the right planning Camden could be an Oasis in South Arkansas, but it will never happen, until old men die off and their offspring who they have polluted die off with them. Some day small towns in America may see a new growth, as people want to move from the cities, but I am afraid Camden will not be a part of that regrowth.

I agree also....
We've visted lots of states and towns, thinking that we'd like to move elsewhere, but as we get older, we feel that a town is what you make of it. Camden could have the growth if we had the industry to offer and the money to make the town come alive. I agree that someone could make great use of the river. During the early 1900's there was lots on the river to attract the people, with the steamboats coming down the Ouachita river. My Mom use to tell me stories about visiting the steamboats on the river and that there use to be a hotel close to the river. I'd like to see Camden prosper in some way in the future.
