Arkansas job help!
Does anyone know, if any place, where would be the best place for manufacturing, production, etc. jobs in AR?? Is there any place that's doing good now in that line of work or anything coming up in the near future? Any help would be appreciated. Really want to move to AR, but not sure where would be the best place for that type of work. I know every where at this time isn't the greatest. Thanks.

Do a Google search for Caterpillar in North Little Rock. That company announced yesterday that it will hire 600 people to build manufacturing equipment in NLR beginning in 2010.
Best wishes.

Caterpillar won't be operational until 2010 as I understand it from the press release. You might also look into LM Glassfiber, FalconJet, Hawker Beechcraft and the other new windmill blade factory (name slips my mind.) Falconjet has an order backlog and my buddies who work there have been doing OT for quite a while now.
All the above are in Little Rock

Little Rock is seeing a manufacturing boom right now despite the bad economy. Between now and 2010, thousands of jobs are expected to go online.

I heard something about those windmill companies in Little Rock closing up shop. I hope that doesn't stop Nordex from coming to the state.

Right after I posted that yesterday I read something about LM eliminating 150jobs. Your post here prompted me to look into this more. LM is idling a manufacturing line that was intended to be a training site. They say they are still committed to Little Rock and are still building the $150M facility. So, for the time being it looks they probably won't be hiring. Just wait till OPEC clamps down the screws and fuel prices go back up though and people start finally committing to energy alternatives. Northwest (Maumelle, Mayflower, N. LR) and southwest (Benton, Bryant) of the city. The overall western part of the city is growing faster.
