Default 540 is becoming more deadly

I wonder why? Seems like the worst spot is the sky bridges south of the bobby hopper tunnel

You know what we did in the north when it got cold, especially after it rained or snowed, and even more so on bridges, we would slow down considerably. Considerably as in down to 30-35. The bridges are always the last to thaw, unless over a body of water, because the earth will not heat up the road and being surrounded on all sides by cold air tend to keep the roads frozen.

It can only be considered the driver's fault, it should also go without saying I have sympathy for those who have died.

In the mornings and night people need to slow down. There is not enough sand or manpower to maintain all the roads every day. Common sense. I am amazed as the news people talk about ice and wrecks around here like no big thing. IMHO.

It just disturbs me how much more common those southern I-540 wrecks are becoming... I saw it coming all along though with the high terrain etc

And that huge glop of tabaccy juice that lands on the windshield right in the drivers vision after leaving the rusty pickup truck in front of you doesnt help either. Sure wish they would learn to swallow!

I grew up in NY and now live near Dallas. I travel to Texarkana, Little Rock and Ashdown almost monthly. Seems to me the people in the South just don't have any sense when it comes to rainy and icy weather! I see them always driving as fast or even FASTER in the bad weather as they do in perfect conditions.....Sorry, but it's just ignorant! When it's wet and icy one third to one half the usual speed limit should be the norm......Also, I do not understand why people down here don't usually turn on their headlights in bad weather....It's nice to be seen too.

People here can't drive with perfect weather so how do you expect them to drive in bad weather?

and I have always thought (especially when driving in So Ar and Texas) kids must be taught that turn signals should only be used by those over 80. They were not meant for anyone else. It is more fun to change lanes without using them...

Yeah and the grey hairs never turn them off once they're on. They must think they're running lights or something. At any rate it is a pretty good indicator to stay the heck away.
