to all of you without power, I hope you can see the light before long and to D C, please leave the branches alone, at least until everything has melted. We depend on you to keep us informed about AR, we would like to keep you around for awhile..

Does anyone know how bad it is in Cherokee? We own a weekend home there and evidently all of the phone lines are down.

Hi, Nita! I'm holding off on some of the branch maintenance, but some, lying on rosebushes, or that miniature Japanese maple, or just plain blocking the way in or out, have got to be moved ASAP. Hey, even though I got the ones on the cable line down, I left the ones on the power lines alone. That freezing fog (and some snow) has left all the ice frosted white. It's quite remarkable.

Power, phone, and trees all down.
Power poles snapped in half like toothpicks.
CV will be up before us as their power comes from a north feed, mine from the south.
They're saying 10 days to 3 weeks for power restoration.
I'm going to try to get to Batesville, 30 miles way, because they have power and therefore groceries and gas.
Gotta wait for the little light on the cellular modem to blink on before I can hit the "send" button!

Rogmar, and everyone else affected by this storm, keep safe and well. We are all thinking of you and hoping that things improve rapidly.

Good Morning everyone. Our power went out on Tuesday morning at 7:15a.m. We are in Van Buren County off of Highway 254, about 30 miles West of Clinton. To get to Highway 65 on Wednesday morning we had to travel over downed power lines that had been cut by fire personnel and wait for the clean-up crew to buzz through trees and power poles that snapped in half over the Highway. Trees crashed all around and on top of our house Tuesday night. I may be a hick, but I am darn glad to have grabbed that generator the day before the power went out. We are currently back in the NorthWest so that's why I am on the internet. I am hoping the neighbors there will call us and let us know if there has been any trees that crashed completely through the house. There is so much damage that we are hearing the power will be off for 2-3 weeks. The upside is: I have never seen such incredible beauty as the shining ice formations. Crystal clear and sparkling all around us. I now have been through an ice storm and am glad for the experience! The neighbors and strangers that we met were all about helping others and making sure everyone was safe and had access to heat. WOW!

any info about power and conditions east of Ash flat - 354 and fairgrounds road? Last talked to the folks Tuesday evening, haven't been able to get ahold of them since - they had gas for fireplace and plenty of food - just getting a little antsy.
