I am born and raised in Illinois but lived in Arkansas for one year, and thought it was a great state. I don't understand the people who say it sucks. They will probablybe miserable anywhere they go, Moderator cut: inappropriate comment

Arkansas isn't that horrible, but lets just face it, a huge chunk of Arkansas are pretty backwards when it comes to accepting people of different races, religions, sexual preferences. I know other states have people like that but AR, imho, seems to have a disproportionate number compared to it's population.

I would probably disagree with you on this. Yes, ARK has lots of rednecks, but so do most middle sized states including NE, MO, Ms, WV, and yes, certainly Texas just to mention a few. You don't see it in Texas because they have so many large cities, but go to the smaller towns, accepting people who are a little different is hard for many who have not been exposed to this element of life. Of course this isn't what the OP is complaining about, he doesn't like anything that is differert from what he grew up with in Texas...

Default Be glad txdave...

be glad they asked for your birth certificate to get your license, otherwise anyone could have walked in there and said they were you and got a license , then you would have a HUGE udentity theft problem. There's a lot of that going on these days.
I was born & raised in Texas, moved off when I was 20 to a southern state (not arkansas) then started looking get back to Texas. When I saw the property taxes ?? NO WAY !!! Arkansas is way less expensive on taxes, the state itself is beautiful and the people here are super helpful & nice !
Perhaps you should find a "hate" or insults" forum to take your anger out on as Arkansaw a lot to offer . However, I did notice in my recent travels, the roads to Texas aren't closed....having an attitude isnt going to get you anywhere no matter what state you move to.
Good luck in your endeavors.

I think we all get an idea in our heads that sometimes is hard to shake out. Even states like Ca, Or and a few others that are very open to diverse cultures have pockets that are unaccepting of anything different than mainstream.

Just a quick question if you own a car say, 2008 Jeep Patriot, paid 14,000 for it about how much tax do you have to pay for personal tax? Thanks much.

From these sites:

DFA | Office of Motor Vehicles | Home

and

DFA | Excise Tax | Sales and Use Taxes Overview

You can get general details, but key is county you live in for the personnel property taxes.

In defense of Arkansas, the birth certificate went into affect after 9/11, and you can get a certified copy from hall of records where you were born, it's no big deal..... I did it, my husband did it...

It just proves you are who you say you are... a pass port will work too.
