Heber Springs or Hot spring village
Just wanted opinions. Schools are extremely important. Other than that we are a boating, golfing and outdoor family. Our child is 9. Thanks for the opinions.

I've visited both many times. I'll just say, I bought a home near Heber Springs last summer. Nuff said.

We just returned from Hot Springs Village and stayed in a townhouse off the lake for a few days. It was nice, however, I was not impressed.
We looked at homes on the lake and more neighborhood style as a possibility. Those were the most expensive and in my opinion the only area I would consider.
Other areas around the lake, the terrain is hilly and challenging in some areas (less $) not at all to my liking. I did not want to live off the lake so that made the choices much more narrow.
We decided not to move to the area and instead just rent for the months of January and February ifwe were to return. I am not sure I could tolerate living in the area 12 months a year.

Interesting take on the area. What turned you sour on HSV? Just curious.

The area is lovely, just not a neighborhood feeling I was expecting. I meant to say in my post that we were only considering lake view homes and that narrowed the choice. Perhaps I'm just not an Arkansas gal.

I know what you mean. That is one of the reasons we're in Cherokee Village and own multiple lakefront and lakeview properties. You have the definite neighborhood feel around the lake areas of CV.
I have the same impression you have of HSV. I do like some of the the lakefront areas of HSV, but in my opinion, I'll take CV over HSV any day of the week. HSV has too much of the "condo-commando" feel to it and that they think they're something they're really not, as in too many wannabes and fake people there thinking they're living in Augusta or Pebble Beach, and it's not even close. Kinda make you laugh at the whole thing sometimes. You don't find that same fakeness in CV. Just my opinion.

Well now I'm really sorry we did not see Cherokee Village. I'll be looking at the map to find out more! Thanks!

CV, BVV, and HSV have many similarities, as they were all developed/redeveloped by Cooper Communities. Two big differences are that HSV is gated and is 100% sewer. Another difference is that BVV and HSV have more golf courses, if you are an avid golfer you want more than one course to play. I visited CV several years ago and really liked it. If I wasn't in HSV I would strongly consider CV, but not BVV.
I was pretty sure I wasn't living in Augusta or Pebble Beach, or even Pinehurst. Thanks for the clarification.

Jeff,
I have played on HSV and BV courses also. They are very nice courses and fun to play. There are more courses than CV has, but there is also a larger population in both BV and HSV than CV has. Two courses in CV is more than adequate for the population and expected number of yearly visitors.
Your Lake Balboa is wonderful and my only wish is that CV had a lake as large as that one, but overall, we are delighted with CV. You still get more bang for your buck in CV, but that is due to it being more rural and less people than HSV. Different strokes for different folks.
Sorry about the Augusta comment, but you have to admit in HSV there are plenty of people that fit that description, and I'm not exactly sure why. That's my biggest complaint about HSV, the rudeness of some of its residents, and you just don't find that in CV.
Good discussion, Jeff.
