Default Move to Clarksville

Well..dang it anyway. I feel like I already fit in. I always believe in being myself and being honest with folks. My mother was raised in Louisiana and taught me the basices of getting' along with people. Guess you could say Im a people guy. And I do make a mean chicken gumbo!!
The house we're considering is at the corner of Louise and Hayes streets in Clarksville. Neat place built in the 50's. We love the older stuff. Just don't make fun of my vintage german cars. I love them too. Im just not a Ford pickup guy..ok? Other than that, I love to play live music (drums), mostly classic rock and roll with a little country thrown in. I think you guys might like me. Also Im a woodworker...I love to make furniture for folks. Im 60 and retired but still full of energy. The wife is the gardener.
Really looking forward to meeting some of you soon. We'll be donw that way this Spring.
Thanks for all your advice and help,
Roger

I saw that house....cool turquoise and black bathroom! I love 50s style, too.

My brother, his wife, and my mom are on their way to Clarksville to bum around as I type this. Then they're going to Catalpa for lunch!

Luvvarkansas......tell me it's the right place to move to. Man oh man...this is a tough decision. I like that fact that it's not a BIG town but it still seems to have all the needed business to make life easy. Do you live there? You've seen the house Im talking about? I love the pictures the owner sent me. Tell me more about life around there.

Rogter....no, I don't live there, never have, as I said in my first post, but we go through it every time we go to our family cabin in the mountains. My mom has shopped there a lot at Wal-Mart and some pharmacy where she gets prescriptions refilled, and we go to a nice little antique mall/flea market there. We drove around last time we were there and looked at the college, which is really neat, and we go to the Atwood's every now and then. I saw your house on craigslist after you mentioned it. The area around the university is hilly and pretty. There's a new listing today for an older, white, Walton's-type house for $77,500....have you seen it? That's my kind of house. I don't know anything about the area it is in, though.

I can't tell you if it's the right place to move, because I don't know you. I can only say that it feels good to me around Clarksville, very scenic and country-ish. That's what I like. The town, as you say, is big enough to have what you need but not too big. And it's definitely in a good, central location in relation to all the fun things to do in the NW corner of the state. But I have NO idea what the people or the politics of the town are like, how friendly they are, how easy it is to fit in, anything like that.

Could you rent for a while to see how you like it before you put down roots? Have you ever actually been to NW Arkansas? I saw where you said y'all would be making a trip in the spring.

Default Thanks Luvarkansas

Well...I suppose we could rent for a bit. Problem is..when you find something you really love it probably means somebody else is gonna love it too so experience has taught me that it's best to move on your instincts.
Yes...we have been to NWA...twice now. Just love it there. Gorgeous place. That house is what got us going on moving to Clarksville. Honestly...I thought it was just a little podunk town with nothing. But I have to say...I think it's neat. We didnt get to go there when we visited before but for some reason I just feel like we'd really like it. Im hoping somebody that lives there is willing to email me about how it is. You've been a lot of help anyway. Im not from the south but my parents were so I guess that's where I get the "y'all" from. Good people in the south. The west is getting so agressive and nasty to live in. Im really waiting for the day our house sells.

Thanks again, Roger
