I see alot on here about people moving to arkansas looking for a good town, But i don't hardly ever see anyone talk about russellville as a good place to move too. We are a small town feel with big city stuff. We have a number of stores and shopping a pretty big strip mall with a number of smaller ones. and some time soon we are getting a new 500,000 sq. feet strip mall with alot of really big name stores. we have a number of places to eat not all the best but it looks like more places and big names are starting to move into our town just look at parkway a starbucks is poping up on our coner haha. Russellville is home to a number of parks http://eteamz.active.com/rsvlparksdepartment/sponsors/ and close to alot of big and nice state parks we have a really nice walking tail system at boa dea!!! and alot of other walking tails and biking tails at other parks around the city and ive heard of a few more out there. We are about to be home to a pretty good size skate park for kids and teens. Russelville is home to RHS a good size highschool with some really good ranking in the state. Crime is not too bad here and we have a good size police force and shirffe office with a number of state police that protrol the russellville area. and people are pretty nice and accepting in the area. We are home to a number of plants for working and if everything goes right we will be home to the new EODS plant amking moble hospetels for the US army. if ive seem to miss anything or you would like to add something about russellville to my post feel free to do... good or bad let people know that Russellville arkansas is a good choice in Arkansas

You know how I describe Russellville? "The worst smelling town I have ever been to with very hot summers and killer humidity, and a lake I wouldn't stick a foot in... clearwaters are more my taste both fishing and swimming." I lived there for a year and hated it!!! |

I believe Russellville Arkansas is very much a good place to move to. I lived there with my family for over 4 yrs, up until a little over 20 yrs ago when we were relocated to another state with a job transfer. It was a great place to start our family, and we loved living there. And we lived there when Russellville was half the size it is now! And what a beautiful place! We'll go out of our way on trips just to drive through, to watch its progress. The community has that "hometown feel." The climate and seasons in Russellville were a plus for us. We've lived with the extremes of long cold winters near Chicago, and the hot, humid summers of the Texas Gulf Coast region. We loved that you could take off driving any direction and find a park, stream, hiking trails, or lake closeby-- a great place where the kids could play or the family could picnic and camp. Shopping wasn't all that ideal. Every place has its pros and cons. But it depends on what you're looking for in a place to call home. We have kept Russellville in mind as a place to settle after retirement. I have bragged about having lived in Russellville, and would gladly do so again one day.

We love it in Russellville, although as the OP stated, it's about to get too big for our small town taste...but there are lots of little towns within driving distance, and you can virtually be "in the country" in a matter of blocks. There's a wonderful historic district and an amazing renovation of downtown is underway.
We moved to the Caribbean for a year - it was nice, blah, blah, too expensive to live there - and when it was time for us to consider coming "home", it was to Russellville (even though we were both born and raised in Little Rock and both grown kids are there). Sorry, moneymaker.....yep, Tyson's doesn't smell great in the summer, but to a whole lot of folks it just smells like a paycheck! |

479.968.3493 My son had an apt. there, very quiet and very well taken care of. Located in west Russellville just past St. Mary's hospital. Moderator cut: use PM, olease I know the Boys and Girls Club here is very active - also, tons of sports - soccer, baseball, basketball - open league. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are big as well. Tyson's is across the river, in Dardanelle. The further south and closer to the river you go on Arkansas Avenue (Hwy. 7), the more you will smell it on rendering days. Right around Bibbler's Lumber is where it starts... I personally love Dardanelle but no realtor will tell you to buy there, the property values are the same as Russellville's, but it's just not as desirable of a location, most likely due to Tyson's...but there are tons of little neighborhoods that are called towns; Belleville, London, Centerview, Moreland...and outlying towns like Hector, Danville, Chickalah and Scranton. There are a couple of lumber mills in the area - ConAgra has a big plant in Russellville. The nuclear plant across Lake Dardanelle at London is always hiring for everything. Lots of people work in Morrilton, Clarksville, or even in Conway. Let's put it this way - if you want a job, you can definitely get one. I guess, as always, the limits would be your particular financial needs...and that I can't determine from your post. |
