Default A good pediatrician in Fayetteville?

We just moved to Fayetteville (sporadicly good job oppotrunity) and, guess what, our first child is almost there.

It was always OK with both us to move to a new place and be complete starngers without friends (for a while). Now I'm deeply lost where to find a good doctor for the baby because she will need one pretty soon. Help, please!

Well, partly who you choose is determined by your insurance. But, as far as I know (and I am new to the area), there is only one pediatric clinic in town: NW Arkansas Pediatrics, close to the hospital). There are a number of doctors there, and even though we had to register a specific doctor's name for insurance purposes, we've only seen her once. So far we've liked all the ones we've seen, though.

Er, sorry, I don't know that that helped very much! I hope you are getting some particular recommendations somewhere. If not, you could just call over there and pick one who will be open to appointments at the time that your baby will be here. I do know that scheduling well child appointments is kind of weird--you can't just call up and schedule one. You get on a list and the schedulers call you back at some distant point in the future when a slot comes open. So you might want to set things up sooner rather than later.

Congratulations, and good luck!

As far as I know the last poster is correct that there is only one pediatric clinic in the area. Personally I did not like the idea of my children rarely seeing the same Dr. twice.- I also felt like the clinic staff were alway overwhelmed, it took forever to get in, long waits etc...proably because they are the only pediatricians covering a LARGE area. So I take my kids to general pratice Dr. vs a pediatrican. It makes me feel a little more secure seeing the same Dr. each time, as she is more familar with the children & their medical history.

Same for me Noem- we were considering a pediatrician, but as my twins have no major health issues and weren't premature, we felt a family doctor where the whole family- including myself and my husband- would see the same doctor would make more sense.
