When you are going down the road in your car, truck, or SUV and hit some of these pot holes, drop offs, or huge bumps, it's really not that big of deal. But if you ride a motorcycle or a trike in my case, it's a whole different situation. It's really dangerous and can cause you to loose control.

I've been paying a lot of attention to the roads when we travel from our place in north Louisiana to our place in north Arkansas. I go a different way each time to try to determine which way would be the best way to go this summer on our trike.

I've about decided that there is no good way.

Isn't Hwy 7 a good smooth road? It's a lot of fun and very scenic in a car but I'm not so sure about on a bike.

It would be out of the way I live South of Magnolia, Ar. I usually go to Prescott, get on I-30 , to I-440, to 167, to Searcy, and Hwy 16 to our place between Pangburn and Heber Springs. Sometimes we get on I-430 in Little Rock to Conway, then Co. rd. 25 to Heber. Sometimes we go Hwy 79 to Pinebluff, then 167 to Little Rock. There is several ways to go but none seem any better than the other as far as a good bike riding road. Otherwise ,they are fine.

Ah, didn't know which area of the state you're were talking about. You're taking freeways which is probably the quickest route. I thought they had recently fixed all the rough interstates in Central Arkansas. I haven't been there in a while.

The freeways were just recently redone within the last 7-8 years. Are they that bad already?
Arkansas used to be extremely notorious for bad roads, but that was fixed while Huckabee was governor.
Maybe the new guy is pretending to be Clinton? Tax everything? Then do nothing?

What you have is sections of redone road and sections of older road that don't tie in good together. There will either be a huge bump or a drop off where they come together. Also, if you are in the right lane and you pull over into the left lane to go around someone, it's the same way in a lot of places. They just need to feather the redone areas into the old areas better. Like I said, if you are in a vehicle, not a big problem. But for all the ones on two or three wheels it's a huge problem.

I was thinking that every inch of interstate has been repaved in recent years, but I doubt that's true for the secondary roads. Also, the interstate work started 10-12 years ago, so some of the earlier work may need to be redone already.

There are still sections of 40 east of LR that have yet to be redone. I have no idea about 30 south of Benton.

Louisiana roads are nothing to brag about either.
