Default Russellville, AR. shopping......please help

Hi all,

We are moving to the area soon and wanted to know about shopping:

*any decent malls? Shopping centers? Wife wants a Clinque women's makeup counter. What's available there

*Is there a Costco or Sam's Club?

*my wife loves to quilt and sew. Any good fabric/sewing supply stores?

*Im a woodworker. Any good woodworking supply stores (clamps, glue, tools) Also I use mostly hardwood. Any place around Russellville where I could buy oak, hickory or other exotic hardwoods?

*Lastly...any GOOD foreign car mechanics?

Thanks for the help.

I'll help with all that I can:

1. There are supposed to be 2 new shopping centers going in but with the economic condition those may be delayed at best. The shopping center that currently houses the WM SuperCenter has been redone. I don't know if there's a Clinique or anything like that, however. There is a "mall" but it can really scarcely be called that.

2. No for both in Russellville. There's probably a Sam's in Fort Smith though and definitely one in Little Rock.

3. Pretty sure there's still a Hobby Lobby and I'd imagine there are other sewing shops but not 100% sure.

4. Several hardware stores will carry your clamps and glue. Not sure about actual tools though. For wood, I'd make friends with a good old boy from up Dover way or something that like and have him give you a decent supply in exchange for a piece or two. That'll get you set for oak and hickory and maybe a few other things but real exotic stuff will probably have to be ordered online.

5. No idea, can't help with that one.

I'll add my two cents worth. There's a Hobby Lobby on E. Main St. and Highway 331 (or off exit 84 on I-40) in the City Mall. It used to be the old Walmart.

It appears that only one of the shopping centers is going in. The last thing I had heard was the the land south of the interstate was being developed and the project north of the road was being either being put on hold indefinitely or being canned all together. Probably has something to do with under the table dealings with Keith Cogswell and the city council/Mayor Williamson

From what I can remember seeing about the site plans, the one that was going to be north of 40 would have been the nicer one but the site south of 40 is generally better. I'm not surprised one is getting axed. The town really didn't need 2 brand new shopping centers right there in close proximity. In the long run, this is a good thing I think.

I know the one north on 40 had been in the works for a while. The engineering firm I worked for did the boundary survey, surveyed Weir Rd. and drew up plans for the one north of 40. It seemed like the owners of the land (the Corradino group?) really dragged their feet and I think it cost them (and the firm I worked for).

We also surveyed the Cogswell land as well. Let me just say they're going to need a lot of fill because a lot of that land is just creek and sweep

But I agree. No way Russellville could handle two malls

Not as good a site as it seems to be then at first glance? At least it's closer to current development.
