Keep in mind that you'll have some stiff restaurant competition in Fayetteville. We love our sushi and there is a large amount of sushi restaurants. You will have to do something to make yourself stand out from the others.

I cant remember which site it was on.. Maybe lakehouse.com or realtor.com I use those quite a bit. I didnt write all the info down as I am just looking into prices in areas not an actual piece of land quite yet. I saw pics of it and there were several places to build on it. Emerald bay sounds familiar... Does anyone know where that is?
Thanks DC@ the Ridge for the info about the businesses out there.. This is the kind of info I need since its hard to find this kinda stuff on the web. Appreciate it!!
As far as the humidy.. In SW MI where we live right now.. It averages 83% in the summer months. I understand that the temps there are higher but the humidity levels are a little lower (around 70% in the summer) That is something I can handle. I had a heat stroke in my teens so its something I have to be careful about. So theres not much of a breeze there in the summer? I would have thought that there would be a nice one with the higher elevations.
Is anyone very familiar with fayetteville campus/downtown areas? Is there any nicer restaurants districts close to campus?
Again THANKS for all the posts. I appreciate them all!!

This would be fine dining. Thai food with a sushi chef. Its not Japanese food. We have a chef that grew up in the orient and has a 5 star restaurant already. This would be a small place. Now I havent been there yet so I havent seen any places or tasted any food from there but what I can tell from looking at a few sites/menus on the web, this would be very different.

Not to sound ignorant, but this is surprising to me. Sushi is about the last thing I think of when I think of Arkansas!

I would agree and that is why I don't think there is really a great need for anymore sushi type dining in our area right now. We have so many choices already..
Of course like bagelw said, Fayetteville is not typical Arkansas, actually neither is Bentonville or BV.
needing more, you are right about the humidity, back yes, but there are many places worse.
I think you will find much to like about NWA, the biggest problems you are going to find, one, no matter what you are seeing on the net, the land you would like to get for the price is going to be very tough and we can only support so many restaurants, whether in Fayetteville, BV or where you decide to open..
I think your idea about coming to visit a couple of times is excellant. I would plan on even meeting with a realtor or checking with one as well as doing a lot of other investigating which it sounds like you are doing already.
As for realtor.com etc, we have all used them as guides piror to moving here, but want you see on the net often isn't quite what you will find when you get here. We had located about 50 houses that were "just what we wanted" when we met with our realtor, most of the ones we were shown were not on our list..Why? because they had some serious draw backs. This is even more true with land..

Downtown has the Taste of Thai that serves sushi. It's not 5 star fine dining but it is a nice place. They also have restaurants in Bentonville and Rogers. There is Asian Fusion and another Thai restaurant just south of downtown on S. School. Dickson Street has Wasabi, Bangkok, and one other sushi place(can't remember the name) which are trendy upscale restaurants. There are a few other Thai and sushi places along college. By the mall there is Shogun which also has places in Bentonville and Rogers. Shogun is very upscale but I've honestly never been that impressed with it. There is also Kobe and Hichiban by the mall not to mention a place in the mall food court that is surprsingly decent. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm all for more sushi places, I'm just letting you know that there is a lot of competition. However, I don't think a single asian restaurant has shut it's doors in Fayetteville.

My parents as Nita knows is moving to Bella Vista in a few weeks. I've been looking for land on Beaver Lake for a while. When I retire I am selling an OK ranch so I too want at least 10 acres and on the lake. PRICE 'BIG BUCKS'. If you want to be on the lake in that area it will cost unless in is unbuildable. Now, in Bella Vista you can just get a lot which would be under an acres and the cost is anywhere from 70 thousand to plus plus.... A lot that isn't on the lake is anywhere from 7500 to 14,500. I would think Rogers would be high because of all the Walmart Exec living there. Take a look East of Rogers and you might find decent price land.

Accurate info above from bagelw.
When I plan on going for sushi at lunch with co-workers, we usually try and go early because if you arrive at any of the above restaurants after 12-noon they will be packed.

Thanks for all the info on a sushi business..
Is there any Thai food anywhere?
What about hardware stores? Has Lowes/Home Depot taken over yet? What about contractors in the area? Are there a zillion or since the demand is high, its still in need? Is there a need for remodeling in the area?
I am reading more and more that in the bad economy, people are remodeling instead of buying new or building and that the demand is very high for that.. Plus your area has had a very steady increase in population for the last 10 yrs... So it seems that the demand there would be high.. Any thoughts???
Thanks again folks!!
