I know there are a few great restaurants in GW but I'm not sure of their names. They got great reviews in a local magazine. If you can drive to Leland and go south, there is the Bourbon Mall. It is the old hardware stor in Bourbon, MS. If you can make it to Greenville, Doe's Eat Place is great! The Lake Shore Cafe in Lake Village is the last place I would stop before getting to Pine Bluff. Then you have Leon's Catfish.

Thanks for all the great info! By the way, how is Pine Bluff? Since I will also be going through there, what's worth checking out there?

Leon's. Stop. Eat. Gas up across the street. Leave town.

Do a search here and you will find a LOT of information. I have family just north of PB and Leon's is the ONLY reason we go into town.

I have heard that Pine Blluff has a higher than average crime rate. In fact, I heard that it can be pretty dangerous? Is that true?

The Ice House is no more. It's now a Larry's Pizza. My wife and I only ate at the Ice House once, but it was pretty good If I remember right. I wholeheartedly recommend the Yellowjacket Drive-In though!! They have awesome burgers there, and their ice cream is great also. My wife has eaten at Fermo's in Greenville,Ms and Lillo's in Leland,Ms. She spoke very highly of both of them.

I haven't been there since they were in the office building at that little motel. At the time, Bob ran the restaurant, his sisters were servers and his mom was the cook.

Cool! I didn't even know the place existed until my wife ate there even though we had driven by it several times.

I've seen the smokestack hundreds of times but haven't been through there for over 15 years so it may have fallen by now. If I remember right the stack was to the south east of the large machine shop which was located south of the house where the owner of the farm lived.
Chicot, Ashley and Drew counties meet around Jerome. Actually the town of Jerome is in Drew County.
I heard the government is going to do some sort of restoration of the camp at Jerome. Don't know to what extent.

There used to be a Japanese internment camp at Rohwer, Ark which is about 10 miles north of McGehee on Hwy 1. My father worked for the railroad and said he worked on many POW trains in and out of this camp and the one at Jerome, although the Japanese were not POWs, a lot were American citizens that were moved there after Pearl Harbor.

I always forget where it is. Jerome and Pine Hill (between Monticello and Dumas) were the only 2 wet townships in Drew County.
