Are you taking the standard route of highway 65? That will take you through McGehee, Tillar and Dumas. You can stop and say 'hi' to my uncle. That's the only place that is interesting to me.

If you happen to be passing near the Rohwer/Watson/Kelso "metroplex", then there is a historical marker on the side of the road. It marks a spot where Japanese Americans were held during WWII. It is now just a marker in a field so it will take you about 30 seconds to see it.

Yeah, looks like I'm going through there on 65 and heading toward Pine bluff, ultimately ending up out by Hot Springs.

Are you going through Little Rock or cutting across through Sheridan?

There was a pretty good restaurant (The Icehouse) in Sheridan when I lived there a little over 10 years ago. It's just north of the main instersection in town. Yes, this is only 1 main intersection.

Thanks. My first stop on this journey is Greenwood, MS, which I'm pretty familiar with. Then it's off to Hot Springs, and after that, Texarkana.

Also, there is the site of the Japanese Relocation Camp at north of Jerome on 165 which is a few miles off 65. Last time I was through there one of the smoke stacks was still standing. But that was several years ago.
You might get a glimps of a prison north of Dumas.
Pickens Plantation south of Dumas where 65 crosses Bayou Bartholomew is sort of picturisqe in a percular sort of way.
Also the drive along Lake Chicot at Lake Village in Chicot county is sort of pretty.
If you like rice and cotton fields you're gonna have a hayday.

That relocation camp is in Chicot county almost in Ashley county. I have never noticed the smoke stacks and I've driven by it hundreds of times. I even worked in Jerome at a catfish farm back in my college days.

Speaking of relocation camps, there was supposed to be a documentary on AETN recently on the German POW camps in the south, particularly Arkansas, and how well they integrated into the communities.

Anybody catch that or remember the name?
