Going to visit the areas around Hardy for possible relocation. I have been able to find some info on Cherokee Village and Horseshoe Bend, but have found almost nothing on Ozark Acres. Does anyone have infor or know of a good link(s)? Speaking of "link", we are also avid golfers! Thanks so much!

If you are a golfer, Cherokee Village or Horseshoe Bend would be the places you need to look into...
Ozark Acres, in my oppinion is a "less" desirable place to live. But, that is only my oppinsion.... : ) |

Go to Cherokee Village. The courses are pretty decent. Ozark Acres might be a little cheaper, but there's nothing there. I have lived in this area most of my life and never really understood what Ozark Acres is supposed to be. I think it was supposed to be a retirement village based on Cherokee Village. It is basically a failure and I don't think you would be happy, unless you are eying a big farm or something there. Cherokee Village is full of Yankees, if you like that, but they are mostly laid-back ones. Cherokee Village was developed in the 50s or 60s, I think, but Cooper Communities, and never was as successful as they envisioned. The developed Bella Vista, near Bentonville, and the rest of the Wal-Mart-North West Arkansas metro area. It turned out to a bedroom community for corporate types, while Cherokee became quiet and hidden away. Legend has it that a lot of mafia types came to Cherokee to hide, but you would never figure out who they are. Didn't mean to ramble, but Ozark Acres is kind of lousy and dead, and just 10-15 miles from Cherokee.

I just wanted to add that the last time I was in Cherokee, at a private bar/club. I got a kick out of the contrast of people. At one table was a few Yankees, in formal jackets, sipping wine, and playing some classic Sinatra-type music on the jukebox, while at another table were a couple of local rednecks in cowboy hats and camouflage playing Lynnard Skynnard type music. At least there is some diversity here!

Hi there, you may want to find Paul Garner Realty on the internet. He handles most of the business in Ozark Acres and probably has links to that specific area. For golfers Cherokee Village might be a better choice. Two great courses and living there gives you benefits when using them. Also has seven lakes. Both are great areas.
