*sigh* I thought just like you when I was 17.....all the old fogies were doing everything the wrong way. I'm afraid you would be totally lost trying to be the mayor of Mountain Home. But there's no law that says you can't run. I suppose different towns have different laws on the age requirements, as I also read about that teenage boy being mayor somewhere.
By the way, is your survey asking whether a teenager can legally run for mayor, or is it asking whether we feel a teenager could do a good job as mayor?

I was wondering the same thing, I voted no, because I do not think a teen is ready to be a mayor and certainly not of a city the size of Mountain Home. This is nothing against Colt, but a fact. I wasn't sure if he meant could or should..

I hate to nitpick, but you used double negatives in the first part of your first sentence. In your second sentence, the word 'wrong' should be 'wrongly' since the situation calls for an adverb with 'ly' at its end. If you want to play a 'game' with grown folks, you'll lose.

I see nothing wrong with a teenager running for Mayor of mountain home or anywhere else, but what happens if he gets elected?
He's right. Old farts run things now and don't a very good job, but is that a function of their being old?
Maybe the entire City Council should e replaced by teenagers also. That would sure change things.
Paving the streets? Understanding the budget and making painful choices? Boring!
Let's just make sure every councilmember has Wii and a Myspace page and halo3. Dude! It'll be awesome!

Colt, don't let go of your tenacity. If you want to be mayor, keep working on it.
Most people pay their dues first, before taking on such a high profile and heavy responsibility. Get out and go to some of the City Council meetings. Become a reporter for your school and write articles on what's going on in city government for your school paper. The more involved you get, the better informed you'll be. Soon, your voice will be influencing others.
The journey begins with a single step, and is a greater reward than the destination.

No the entire city should not be run by teens..It takes years of knowledge and experience to run a city of any size.
It is best to start out running for president of your senior class in high school, then maybe trying to get elected to the city council..You have no idea what you are talking about. Yes, one does need to understand the budget and make painful choices. Some teens do not have enough life experiences to even begin to understand those things. Just your reference to every council member having Wii and MySpace indicates an immature way of thinking as well as the word Dude and It'll be awesome.

I'm clearly immature, always going for the cheap laugh, but I am old. Waaay old, dude. 50 something.
Had a bunch of relatives in Hot Springs when I was growing up, all now in the great spa in the sky except for a couple of cousins, and still get to Arkansas as often as possible.

Noticed that, but didn't say anything. Didn't want to be drawn into his "game".
Colt, take the advice of others, such as Bull Winkus, who have advised you to start small and learn some things about city government before you try to take over as head honcho.
Now, why don't you give us some details about what is being done wrong in MH and what you would do to change it?
And also tell us why you post here at times when you should be in school.

So, what question exactly were you asking with your poll?
