A 19 year old got elected mayor of Muskogee, OK. You probably couldn't be mayor since you are under 18 but in a year or two why not take a crack at it?

I say go for it! Here in Pennsylvania we're run by the "oldsters" who think we "whipper-snappers" should be seen and not heard. Needless to say getting more youths interested in civic activism would be wonderful. I'm hoping President Obama's success at connecting to the "youth vote" through Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc. holds strong as I've quite honestly never seen so many fellow younger people so involved in government.

Sure, in a small town and with powerful parents/older connections.

Legally, in many AR cities/towns you can.
I had a friend run for mayor in 2008. You had to write him in on the ballot.
I say go for it. We need fresh new ideas.

Try to get your name out in the media and try to talk about ways you'll do a better job than the incumbent.
http://www.sos.arkansas.gov/elections.html should help.

I've been thinking about running for mayor of my city (Johnson City, TN). Don't see it materializing though, too much old money and power here , no harm in trying though

There is a reason it is that way (older people thinking young people are "whipper-snappers", etc.)....it is because we oldsters were once as you are (but you have never been as we are, think about that), and we have the benefit of hindsight. Sometimes we can be downright horrified at how stupid and foolish we could be back then....so we understand the relative foolishness of youth compared to the relative wisdom of age, and we would rather not have people who are like our younger, unwise selves running our country.
OP (original poster), anyone can run for mayor at a certain age, but to be honest, I've read all your posts, and to put it kindly, I think you should mature a little more before you attempt anything that requires wisdom. You also should learn to spell and to write coherently.
