Default Heber Springs Fun

We're considering a day trip to Heber Springs in the next two weeks and in the interest of saving paper (not requesting a vistors guide from the city of Heber Springs), I wanted to get some feedback as to what there is to do in Heber Springs.

I've looked at their website and so far all I've seen is Greers Gerry Lake....

What are some things to do in Heber Springs besides the lake?

The last time I was there (about 7 years ago) there were some decent shops in the town itself. Lots of antiques to peruse through, lots of hand-made items, etc. A family friend owned a building that allowed people to rent out booths for their crafts and such. While she has sold the building, there may still be something similiar around.

If you have a night to stay, make it a camping trip. As a kid, we stayed at Devil's Fork Campground. I remember it being fun. They had a small swimming area to cool off in if you weren't actually wanting to get out on the lake.

Hope you enjoy your visit!

We love the area. So much that we bought a home real close to there last summer. Forget the lake. It's a very nice lake but there is a lake about everywhere you go. Go to the Little Red River. That's what we fell in love with. Excellent trout fishing. Beautiful scenery. JFK park is the best but hard to get a camping spot usually. We like to go up to the square and shop in all the little mom and pop shops. There is several good places to eat. We like to go to McPhersons and eat the seafood buffet on Friday and (or) Saturday nights. To be perfectly honest though, there is not just a whole lot to do there if you don't like the lake or the river. Check out the bridge that goes across the dam at night. It's lighted and we think it's beautiful.
