Default Is this a good neighborhood?

I have found this really cute fixer in Hot Springs and I'm wondering if it's in a good neighborhood: 207 Westbrook

Thanks!

Hey, have you tried Google maps? www.maps.google.com Type in the address and then click on street view. You can go up and down the street and pan in all directions. I looked at it and it looked like a neat old neighborhood to me, but then, old houses are my thing. Someone else may have a different opinion of it.

From the looks of it on Google, it looks like a quiet neighborhood.

I love old houses too and found several I liked! I also liked the Herbal Remedies truck in front of one house. Hippie neighbors!

It's interesting to see the different times of year the photos were taken in different areas. Those were obviously taken in the fall. In the ones from my neighborhood you can tell it's the dead of summer.

Yes, Google Street View is like a hobby of mine.

That is interesting, one of my buyers was interested in this house and drove by it yesterday. He didn't like the sloped drive. I have been in it (a few months ago) and some improvements have already been made.

You can contact the police and ask for complaint call volume on the area.

Just IMHO, but really depends on what you are looking to pay. That area of Hot Springs, is not in the growth section. There are very few amenities, shopping, schools, etc.

I would look for places around Albert Pike, West of Central Ave, South of the Rack Track for fixer uppers in the city limits. Otherwise, outside the city around Lake Hamilton or further out towards Fountain Lake area if you want to live out 7 North.

Looking at it it looks nice, but I have found that looks can be deceiving. I will call the police about complaints.

How far is it from the downtown area?

That address is considered the Park Ave area. It's like 2-3 miles from fountain and start of Bath House row.

There are some very nice homes closer to Park/7 North. And some on the other side of Park close to the Gov lands.

Some of the streets in that area had land were bought back and houses moved off. One nice thing in HS, is getting property that backs up to Gov lands. It's very common to find homes in Garland County that were moved. It's a cheap way of getting a nice older home (material's, craftsmanship, etc) in a hurry out to undeveloped property.

My Ex family has a farm out 70 West with two houses that were moved in from the Park area. With a bit of work, they were fixed up quite nicely, considering their age.

Just as a sidebar, but in one, we found the attic was full of old newspapers and comic books. Turns out that they were used back in the 30-40's as sub for insulation.

Oh my goodness. You scared me. 2-3 miles? I'm from LA that roughly translates to 5-10 min which is a dream.

Thanks for the tip. Apparently that house is off the market but I'm not in a hurry. I still need to find a job first.
