You have 4 degrees between the two of you and yet never heard that term. I'm guessin' that you might have picked the wrong sub-forum to start stirrin' up somethin' out of nothin'.

Some people choose to live in the State of Denial. Sneezyone, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Just in case you have been living under a rock let me enlighten you: the "hip-hop Blacks" are the ghetto trash that refuses to work, wants to play basketball all day, sell drugs, drink 40's and thinks the world owes them something because "the man" is holding them down.
In other words, they are the opposite of you and me - the ones who went to school and are productive citizens and made something of ourselves.

I know what hip hop music is. I also know who its primary consumers are and they're not black. I know what rap music is; it came of age at the same time I did, and no, I've never heard anyone referred to as a "hip hop black". Hip hop heads/junkies come in every race/ethicity. What's wrong with saying I don't like to be around people who regularly engage in illegal activity (e.g. drinking in public, sell drugs, disturb the peace, etc.) Why you folks are so hell-bent on using/defending the use of racial stereotypes is beyond me as if people of all races/ethnicities don't engage in those behaviors. I've been listening to hip hop and r&b all my life and, frankly, I'm sick and tired of people ASSuming things about me, wrongly, based on my musical tastes.

If you think for one second that the very same people who complain about "hip hop blacks" aren't the very same people who publically and privately raise their eyebrows about the musical taste of black people my age, myself included, I have a bridge in Alaska to sell you.
I love the way you posted a little snappy retort that generally has nothing to do with the primary point of my post, that being that the perpetuation of racial and ethnic stereotypes will continue to be a problem so long as people (of all races/ethnicties) continue to nod their head in agreement when they're spouted rather than calling them what they are...B.S.

wow, now it looks like you do know the term "hip hop blacks" I do not think anyone is putting down your music, just your defensiveness and no, not everyone that complain about "hip hop blacks" put down the music. Even if this was the case that does not make these same people bigots, or racists nor is anyone stereotyping you. Why are you thinking that?
There is nothing wrong with saying "i don't want to live around druggies, or people who do illegal activities" I don't get that part of your posting either??
I do see something that does concern me, your language seems a bit strong. I am not sure that shows much class regardless of the degrees you have.

I'm black and don't have a problem with hip-hop blacks, it's ghetto people I have a problem with and I think there is a distinction.
One can love hip-hop, speak in slang and such but still want to keep their house looking nice.
Ghetto people on the other hand...speak in slang, love hip hop and tend to keep their house looking junky.
I live in a pretty decent neighborhood, it's not upscale and it's not full of abandoned-looking houses with cars that don't work in people's yards and things of that nature.
A few years back we had a family that was on Section 8...a black family and trust me, they were ghetto.
You could tell that house was the oddball of the neighborhood.
Needless to say we were happy when they were evicted, a nice Asian man and his family fixed up the house and sold it to a nice white family who my step-sister LOVES to visit when she comes over. lol.
I'm black and hardly ever listen to hip-hop. Most of the time in the car I'm listening to NPR. Too bad there isn't a nerdy smiley on here.
So...back to the topic of the OP:
Glad to see you're moving back to Arkansas and I'm always happy when gay people move to the state.
I doubt I'll ever meet you in real life but I am still happy about you moving back to AR.
