This is so true. That pitiful town is going to dry up and blow away like a fart in the wind before everyone in power that is restricting the town kills over.

The peasants of the county don't have the money to bring in businesses but they -can- vote and so they are trying to do the only thing they know that will potentially save that area-- bring in the booze.

A better way to bring in some money is to legalize marijuana but hey...what do I know?

forget that. If they can't get booze legal they certainly will not legalize pot. I would bet, if eventually pot becomes legal and I think it will, AR will be one of the last states to make it legal.

Having had a very long inside look at that, Nita, I wouldn't go betting the double wide quite yet.

Fighting marijuana is a big business, which gets much funding, and creates many jobs and positions of "importance".

Arkansas is a state well known for "cash crop", and the budget to fight that here is enormous. The anti-marijuana flights can be seen at most any point in the state, and the technology is mind boggling.

Think about this, you're talking about a government giving a group 30 *million* dollars to try to find a woodpecker in Arkansas which everybody but the group doesn't have a big problem finding.

They're probably good for at least another 20 million dollars before they "find" one.

Find the bird, the money dries up.

Legalize marijuana, the money dries up.

Never thought about it that way, so will not bet my double wide on anything.

I still think the time will come when pot will be legal, I doubt in my life time. But here it will be legal, if ever, not til my great grandkids are adults.

I remember sitting in Viet Nam in 1972 having this discussion with friends in a hazy cloud.

Our logic was, as widespread as marijuana use was, as rampant as the devil weed permeated the very soul of society, it was impossible for some of those people not to get elected to office and legalize it.

Well...Bill Clinton didn't inhale.

George W. got religion.

Barry Obama saw the light.

On and on.

It's just as widespread as it's always been, but it sure ain't legal, and it ain't gonna be.

A lot of people don't want to see the funding dry up, just like those MO liquor stores don't want to see the steady stream of AR plates go away.

oh, that MO/Ar thing, that I do agree. I would bet almost anything the liqour store owners on the MO border are helping keep Benton Co dry. As I have said, that is OK with me, it is only a couple of minutes from my place to the MO places.

No way, those liquor stores in Missouri would never do something like that!

Oh I know, I am too judgemental and a skeptic. I must learn to be nicer to those owners in Jane.
