Thinking about moving to SW Arkansas
Hello all,
I have a few friends near Arkadelphia, and I am considering moving to somewhere in SW Arkansas. Can anyone recommend the best places? I am an older, single woman. Thanks

I recommend Hot Springs Village, or Hot Springs. Hot Springs Village is a community of mainly retirement age folks.
I would recommend not living in Arkadelphia. Maybe somewhere on the outskirts of town.
What are you looking for? Big town, small town, bump in the road? Or do you just want to be as close to Arkadelphia as possible?

I didn't know there was anything left of Mena!
That would be a heck of a drive (for me anyways) but that is definitely an option.

Mena is alive and recovering. It is still a beautiful little town and a great place to retire!!! I hope everyone is coming to the Lum & Abner festival here this weekend!

Why not Arkadelphia? I lived there a few years ago and loved it. Has it gone bad now?

It depends on what you are looking for. There are many towns around Arkdelphia that are nice. You have Gurdon, Malvern, Hot Springs is nice, a lot of small towns outside of Hot Springs and Arkadelphia to check into also. It all depends on what you are looking for.

All the suggestions are good. We just sold our home and property in Malvern, after almost 50 years, and moved to Little Rock to a retirement community. No more grass to mow and no more leaves to blow!!!! Malvern has good doctors, good hospital, adequate retail stores, adequate eating places, and close enough to Little Rock and Hot Springs to make shopping or dining trips. In my opinion, Arkadelphia would be O.K. if you have no problem with it being wall-to-wall with young adults during school, since it is a two college town. If it makes any difference, either way, both Arkadelphia and Malvern are in "dry" counties, but there are plenty of bootleggers if you need the booze. Or go to H.S. or L.R.

I guess you are right about Arkadelphia. I was 19-22 when I lived there so I guess I never noticed all the "young" people. It is a nice town though in my opinion. You have Degrey right there.
