Speaking of Russellville, Arkansas Tech also has an engineering program. I believe, but I'm not 100% sure, that UA-Fayetteville and ATU are the only schools in the state that offer engineering degrees.

If you go the business route, you probably going to be better off going the accounting route and then CPA, although I think now it may require a masters degree to get a CPA now, which is really a requirement to be marketable. If that is the case, you would need to make sure that the school has a masters in accounting program.
The article below states that auditors (CPA's) is the hottest job for 2009. Auditors make the most money in the big accounting firms. They are normally in larger cities. Stephens in Little Rock would probably be the best bet for CPA in Arkansas, but certainly Little Rock over any other city in Arkansas.

I think he decided not to go back to school right now, mostly because school is so expensive. And, if you're living in a small town in Arkansas, school probably isn't necessarily a great investment. I think anyone who is willing to move to a bigger city has a better chance of getting a decent job, but it just isn't practical for him to move anytime soon.

You know you can get loans and grants to go to school. There is going to be money available under the new lottery program as well. Of course, if he really does not want to leave the small town to go to school, that could be a problem.

Does this apply to people who already have bachelor's degrees? He and I both already have one degree. I'm in school working on a second one (getting a degree in Sociology turned out to not be so profitable or fulfilling) and he was thinking about doing the same. I know that we can get loans, but I don't know of any grants that someone who already has a degree can get.

Yes but there are fewer grants and scholarships. I believe there are grants available for education but I am not completely sure. You will need to check federal and state government websites as well as the school where you are attending. I have always found school financial aid offices to be very unhelpful, but that should be the first place that you start.

You can get PELL grant money towards a 2nd bachelor degree. Go talk to the financial officer at the university.
