Thinking of Moving to Rogers, AR
Me and my fiancee' are thinking of moving to Rogers from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Just curious if anyone could let us know what there is to do there? what the weather is like? are there 4 seasons throughout the year? were both in our early 20's and want to still have a good time but dont want to move somewhere that is gonna be slow paced and have nothing really to do. So if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.

You better be prepared for some real culture shock.. I have lived in several states and have NEVER felt so unwelcome as I have since moving to Arkansas.. It is truly a culture shock. I truly regret moving to this area and unfortunately we are stuck here until my husband can retire .

cultureshock?
well i think ill fit in a little better there than i did here in Florida... My fiance and i both grew up in a small town in colorado so we felt a huge cultureshock when we moved to florida... were both looking for more of a small town type of feeling so im hoping maybe rogers can provide us with that.

You should look about 20 minutes south to Fayetteville. It's an actual small city with plenty of entertainment. Rogers is more like a big suburb that should be on the outskirts of a large city but the large city is missing.

Well, I don't know about THAT.
But I would recommend Fayetteville to someone in their 20's. Because of the University, there are more things to do for younger couples. Benton County is more oriented to families than to younger couples.

If you are more liberal and want to be part of the college life, Fayetteville would be better, but Rogers is only a few minutes from Fayetteville. Both towns are great. People in NWA will accept you with open arms as long as blast the state or try to change the traditions. Like anyplace and this is the way it should be, people from NWA love their state and region. Attempting to change everyone into another way of thinking will make you a total outsider. Otherwise you will be fine. Many of the people living here, whether in Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville, BV or any other of the small towns are form somewhere else.
Good luck.

You could split the difference and look at Springdale. I'll admit, when I first read the OP's post I thought Fayetteville too. Most of the big cities/towns are stretched out along hwy 71, and Springdale would put you at the center of most of that. You'd be within easy reach of Dixon street for night life in Fayetteville, You'd split the difference between Beaver Lake and Ozark National Forest. There's the Pea Ridge battlefield just up north if you're into that kind of thing. If you want smaller, you could go slightly north to Lowell or go west of 71 to little towns like Elm Springs or Cave springs (really just a collection of small shops and a convenience store.). Also, you're near Northwest Arkansas Regional, which has jet service. Seems like every town in Arkansas has an airport: Rogers, Bentonville, Springdale and Fayetteville are within minutes of each other yet they all have airports for the smaller planes.
As for those that complain about culture shock, if you're not going to experience anything new, what's the point of moving? Every place is going to have it's bad elements, and sometimes I think the 'right place' for anyone is that place that has a nice combination of good things you love with bad things you can live with. In NWA for the most part what you're going to find is hard working people who: like to keep a garden, enjoy hunting and fishing, appreciate the outdoors, love good BBQ and pay attention to the weather (I think the last one is a hold-over from all the years of small farming in the area.). It's still 'look a man in the eye and shake his hand' country.
If you end up out there, visit Eureka Springs. It's a fun town to visit.

This may be true of people originally from NWA but mostly you're going to find people from all over with different interest and from different backgrounds. I've only met a handful of people actually from NWA.

I too have only met a few people from here, but I think the comments made by ZiaAirmac does discribe many of the people here. There is more sophistication than, maybe 30 years ago and with the transplants the NWA is more diverse, but still holds the high moral values, hard working, like to raise gardens and believes a mans hand shake is his word..These are some of characterics that bring people here. It is like people leaving Ca and moving to Texas or AR, they do not want to bring Ca life to their new state, but want to infermingle and develop the feeling of their new home.

I think all the McMansions and strip malls built in Rogers and Bentonville the past few years may show otherwise.
